This amazing group of volunteers, mostly women, dedicate their time and expertise helping their communities at Barawe MCH Centre. As critical maternity care funds pause, New Ways turn to community to fill the void. We are so grateful to them.

This week, New Ways started the first phase of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) distributions across many parts of Lower Shabelle and Southwest State. Mosquito nets are a defensive tool in fighting malaria. We thank our staff and community leaders for coordinating with us.

In 2018, @UNFPA_SOMALIA supported the first-ever C-section surgery in Barawe, but the health facility soon faced funding cuts in 2022. And while New Ways has been supporting since then, current funding cuts disrupted operations. This week, we traveled to Barawe to document this.
