Potential jurors that openly admit they won't be impartial are removed for cause. The fact that 3 were removed because they stated they wouldn't vote to convict him meant they were removed, anyone that openly states they won't listen to the evidence and then base their verdict on the evidence presented have no business being on a jury. A black juror who refuses to convict a obviously guilty person based on race is every bit as racist as a white juror that bases their vote on the race of the defendant.
