On the day before DACA’s 10-year anniversary, we sat down with DREAMers and heard their stories as immigrant New Yorkers with aspirations to serve our city.
Today is the 10-year anniversary of DACA, a temporary program that has allowed so many of us to achieve our dreams - as long as we plan in 2-year increments. Read more about the state of impermanence caused by Congressional inaction @HRW: https://t.co/2Lr9n1ssOn
Mark your calendars: Texas' court challenge to DACA has been scheduled for oral argument at the 5th Circuit on Wednesday, July 6.
The immigration program has been in limbo since a Texas federal judge ruled against it last summer. Background on that: https://t.co/SPLcEgPp99
Family separation is a crisis when it happens on the border but also when it happens in our communities and to our neighbors. We need to stand together to fight these oppressive systems. #EnLaLucha

HOPEFUL BUT WE NEED RESULTS! Sen. @JohnCornyn & @SenatorDurbin are working together to find "common ground" on #immigration.
They are looking for "bipartisan bills that don't solve all the world's problems, but do address some of these areas where there's consensus."

During the 1920’s, thousands of Irish immigrants jumped ship as their most common form of illegal entry, with estimates that 180k had deserted ships to evade immigration. Sadly many children of these undocumented immigrants have forgotten their history.

Given #Ukraine conflict, POTUS can be bold on #Immigration. He can start with:
1) executive action and give a broader category of Dreamers with #DACA the opportunity to enlist in the Armed Forces. Statutory authority already exists.
2) authorize TPS for Ukrainians

The work continues to honor immigrants in our Armed Forces by providing accessible immigration legal services for veterans, active, reserve, guard members & their families so none have to live in the shadows of deportation.
Since 1986, Congress has repeatedly failed to fix our broken immigration system. @HouseJudiciary did their part by advancing a bill to provide a path to legal status for Dreamers, TPS recipients, and essential workers, and clear green card backlogs. The Senate must follow suit.
If you only read one thing today, read this.
People are literally dying in the extreme heat & US border policies are contributing to preventable deaths.
We need climate-informed policies now.
We have a major opportunity to pass meaningful legislation to protect some of our immigrant neighbors. Democrats can't fumble this https://t.co/MDknHtz3j5
