President Ilham Aliyev has posthumously honored Natig Gasimov with the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Natig Gasimov’s remarkable journey began in 1991 when he volunteered to join the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, showing exceptional bravery in the face of adversity. His courage was on full display in 1992 during a fierce battle near the village of Pirlar in Khojaly, where he defended a strategic position single-handedly for five days and nights, despite losing six comrades.

When separatist Armenians threatened to kill Khojaly civilians, Natig made the ultimate sacrifice. With the Azerbaijani flag in hand, he left his position to prevent harm to innocent residents of Khojaly. Tragically, after being captured and questioned, he was never heard from again, believed to have been killed shortly after.

Natig Gasimov’s unwavering courage and selflessness exemplify the spirit of a true hero. His legacy will forever inspire the people of Azerbaijan

Saate baktım Türk çocuğu yedi dakika sonra öldü. Mesleğim hekimlikti ve tabii olarak hümanist idim fakat Türk çocuğuna yaptığım bu işkencelerden dolayı kendimi rahatsız hissetmedim.
Sonra çocuğun cesedini doğrayarak aynı soydan geldikleri köpeklerin önüne attık. Akşam aynı şeyi 3 Türk çocuğuna daha yaptık. Türk çocuklarına yaptıklarımdan bahtiyarlık duyuyorum! Ben bir Ermeni vatansever olarak görevimi yerine getirdim"
