Please support @pranapanindia & our partner @Active_IAQ to make India breathe safer.
Just RS4500 can help a 450 sq ft vulnerable space.. SO DONATE a BUBBLE AIR CLEANER TODAY!
Very grateful to @CorsIAQ & @JimRosenthal4 & your CR Box that inspired PRANA for Clean Air to take wings!
Maharashtra’s AQI crossed the 300 mark last week. Increase in number of health complaints related to breathing polluted air has Maharashtra’s health department concerned. Civic authorities will now monitor the the rise in AQI and pollution-related illnesses, reports The Hindu.
"We accept respiratory diseases right now, like colds and flu, as a way of life — but maybe we don't have to" @linseymarr said. "Maybe if we start paying more attention to cleaning our indoor air, we could really reduce the burden on our health & society"

Out today in @TheLancet:
“Recovery is extremely rare”
“Unfortunately the small chances of recovering from #LongCovid during first 2 years underscore that, as long as SARS-CoV-2 transmissions continue & few people are cured, LC will continue to accumulate”https://t.co/w1PzWVSHuo
I am excited to share our new position paper on #SARS-CoV-2 reservoir (viral persistence) in Long COVID or post-acute sequelae of COVID (PASC): https://t.co/cxx7NjuGrC
Key to Long COVID could be elevated fibrinogen and D-dimer levels during initial infection.
Those with levels higher than expected (for the level of inflammation) went on to get brain fog later.
It could be either from small clots in the lungs or direct effect on brain.

13 years ago this month, my son was diagnosed with brain cancer. I promised him that I would do everything I could to help kids with #ChildhoodCancer. It’s the only thing he asked us to do. Not to help him, but to help others. I would be grateful for a follow or a RT to spread awareness and honor his journey. 🙏🏻
Have we learned from COVID-19? Mostly No.
Instead of piling on the pounds of cure to current crises, we desperately need to improve our ounce of prevention thinking.

Real-time data update: we've got our first BA.2.86 (see red arrow) neutralization results. Short 🧵with much credit to @DannySheward and the rest of the team.
Getting Covid from being in the hospital (nosocomial infections): Features of nearly 7,700 of such infections in 288 US hospitals that should be prevented

From GFR to PFTs and cancer surveillance, racialized medicine with a White standard systematically underserves and underdiagnoses minority patients. Building on decades of evidence, we share our latest on pulse oximetry measurement bias @journal_CHEST

A short 🧵on a recent study by @MaggieLind2 with @MHitchingsEpi @datcummings Albert Ko et al. Data show that immunity induced by vaccines, prior infection or both (hybrid) protects against SARS-CoV-2 infection when viral exposure is low to moderate (1/)

Two new papers @NatureMedicine and @JAMAInternalMed shed light on #LongCovid at 2-years. But there's no shortage of known unknowns.
Reviewed in a new Ground Truths (link in my profile, because that would be it X-suppressed)
Just published
When a nasal vaccine provides superior immune response compared with a shot (2 doses of each). Results from a randomized clinical trial, including vs Omicron, and with less local and systemic adverse effects

Relevant to schools starting up soon is a new report on K-12 2° #SARSCoV2 transmission. It is low (~2-3%), but significantly reduced w/masks (by 88%), vaccination (by 96%), increased 2.5 fold in classroom vs out-of-classroom

Our new #UCSF preprint showing prolonged tissue-level immune activation and gut viral persistence for up to 2 years post-COVID. Does COVID-19 induce a new immunologic set-point and how is this related to PASC/Long COVID?
