@StevenJDuffield @EWErickson Last, I read the sentence containing "at least some" to allow for some persons who came to the US illegally to, have gone through some later process to become citizens, at which point their children would be also. Fascinating legal topic whatever the interpretation. 2/2

@StevenJDuffield @EWErickson Interesting. First - not a legal scholar here, so I'm willing to learn. Second, I thought "the Order" was shorthand for the "the Citizenship Order" mentioned earlier in the paragraph, though he did not abbreviated "Citizenship Clause", so maybe I'm wrong. 1/2

@StevenJDuffield @EWErickson Help me out here. I read p118 of the PDF and continued with the footnote on p119. I read 'can' & 'may', not 'would', 'will', or 'shall'. I read that the decision on whether or not they may become citizens was best left to some later TBD case. Did I miss 'would'?

My point is the contrast of one legally permitted to be here vs one who is not, and how the wording of the laws got to the point where such a distinction leads to a different legal designation of their US-born child's citizenship.

@JakeSherman TIL the pocket veto only applies (and apparently there have been interpretation discussions) when Congress is adjourned sine die. If I understand correctly that means adjourned with no scheduled date to return. Will be interesting to watch. @EWErickson++, his repost got me here.

@Brick_Suit Where / what time of day is this that the traffic (inside and out) is not totally jammed? Been to Bucky's 2x. Didn't enjoy either trip, because of the congestion (people inside, vehicles outside). Got flipped off because I expected someone to take turns exiting the parking lot.

@GenTXer2 I heard Rick's first. Wasn't until a spring break '88 roadtrip, listening to a homemade cassette entitled "Rick Springfield's Greatest Hit" which had Rick's version many times, then Sammy's once, then back to Rick's, when I learned Sammy wrote it. Still partial to Rick's version.
