We are continuing to closely monitor the ongoing contract negotiations involving the LIRR. City Hall and agencies across the administration are actively coordinating preparedness and contingency efforts to help maintain continuity for commuters and support New Yorkers as conditions evolve. New Yorkers should prepare for heavier-than-usual traffic, crowded transit options and additional travel time. The MTA has announced that limited weekday bus service will be available for essential workers and others who cannot telecommute. We encourage New Yorkers to stay informed, plan ahead and check for updates and travel guidance as more information becomes available.

I am excited to announce that "Self-Regulated Learning: Insights and Innovations" has now been published! As the academic editor, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Maja Bozicevic and Elena Vracaric of @IntechOpen for their expert guidance and trust in this project. This volume examines how learners develop self-regulation across various educational contexts, including those involving AI applications and support for underserved communities.
I am proud to see this work serve as both a reflection on current practices and a roadmap for future SRL advancements!

@RepJeffries@SenSchumer What specific actions are you taking to address concerns about Grok3 and Elon Musk's access to government data? Here is Grok3's answer to my question:
Here’s a bulleted list of concerns regarding Grok 3 and Elon Musk’s access to U.S. Government data, based on discussions and sentiment as of February 23, 2025:
1. Privacy Risks: Musk’s team, through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is reportedly accessing sensitive personal information—like Social Security numbers, tax returns, and bank details—from agencies such as the Treasury and Office of Personnel Management, raising fears of widespread privacy breaches for millions of Americans.
2. Unauthorized Access: Many DOGE staff, including young engineers lacking formal security clearances, are said to have access to classified and sensitive systems, violating standard protocols meant to safeguard national security and personal data.
3. AI Training Speculation: There’s concern that Musk might use government data to enhance Grok 3’s capabilities for xAI, his private company, despite White House denials, with critics pointing to a lack of clear safeguards to prevent such use.
4. Conflict of Interest: Musk’s extensive business ventures, including Tesla’s operations in China, combined with his DOGE role, spark worries that he could exploit government data to favor his companies or disadvantage rivals, skewing market fairness.
5. National Security Threats: His access to critical systems—like Treasury payment infrastructure and OPM personnel files, previously breached by foreign actors—raises alarms about potential vulnerabilities, especially given Musk’s international ties and past clearance denials.
6. Legal Violations: Critics, including lawmakers and lawsuits, argue that DOGE’s actions breach laws like the Privacy Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and HIPAA by allowing unvetted, non-government personnel into restricted systems without oversight.
7. Lack of Accountability: As an unelected figure with significant influence under the Trump administration, Musk’s data access lacks democratic checks, potentially sidestepping congressional authority over spending and data governance.
8. Data Exploitation: Access to vast datasets could enable Musk to build detailed profiles on individuals or entities for personal, corporate, or political purposes, threatening privacy and equity.
9. Service Disruption: Interference with essential payment systems (e.g., Social Security, Medicare) could destabilize services that millions rely on, with politically driven changes risking public trust and economic harm.
10. Cybersecurity Weaknesses: Inexperienced DOGE staff using private servers or personal devices on secure networks increases hacking risks, reminiscent of past breaches like the 2015 OPM hack linked to China.
These concerns emerge from a blend of reported activities, legal challenges, and public discourse, spotlighting issues of transparency, legality, and the risks of private influence over public data. While some points remain speculative, they underscore significant unease about Musk’s role and Grok 3’s potential involvement.

BREAKING: Republicans enter panic mode as a new CNN poll reveals that 60% of Americans who watched his State of the Union address had a positive reaction — while 35% of them reacted "very positively."
In these hyper-polarized times, that's astonishing...
But it gets even better. According to the same poll, 62% of Americans who watched the speech believe that the policies Biden proposed will move American forward. 38%, which largely means the MAGA Base, disagreed.
Before the speech, only 45% of people polled supported Biden's policies. The address was a stunning success and has clearly had a huge impact on Biden's popularity.
60% of Americans polled now have confidence that Biden can protect American democracy. 59% have confidence in his overall ability to carry out his presidential duties.
Crucially, the State of the Union was a resounding success with independents. Before the speech, only 51% expressed some confidence in Biden's abilities to carry out his duties. After the speech, that number shot up to 68%.
If these people vote for Biden in November, he'll win in a landslide.
Please retweet and ❤️ if you think that Biden crushed it — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a new pro-democracy social network that is exploding in popularity because Twitter and Facebook are trying to stop its growth — which is only making Tribel grow even faster. Have you ever been in a lockdown drill in a school? I have. It is frightening. You must lock the door, turn off the lights, get all of the children crouched down against a wall away from the windows, tape a paper cover you leave taped by the door to cover the window in your classroom door and encourage the students to remain absolutely silent while your heart is beating through your chest. If it is a drill, your administrators and visiting police will violently pull and push on your classroom door handle, sometimes banging on the door in the process. The children are terrified. You must wait to hear a pre-planned message on the PA that all teachers memorize to know that it is a drill and we can resume our activities. One time, the principal announced the wrong all-clear code. No one moved. He began to get angry on the PA and said, Why isn’t anyone coming out, he yelled into the PA? Because we did not know if someone was holding a gun to his head to coax us out of our rooms so the nutjob who had an AR-15 could slaughter us. Finally, he said the right code. I left my door locked.
Let me be perfectly clear to anyone, friend or public, who is reading my post.
I will NEVER vote for Donald Trump, who is nested firmly in the NRA and Republican athletic cups, licking anything nearby. Donald Trump puts me, my daughter, who is a teacher, our children, all teachers, and society in REAL danger of dying.
Want to talk more about terrifying experiences in lockdown drills? Message me.

Thank you, @IntechOpen, for inviting me to propose and edit a book regarding reimagining education in the post-pandemic era. Twenty research teams contributed chapters centered on the role of e-learning, creativity, and technology with international perspectives. I appreciate the contribution of my @EndeavorSTEM colleagues @Karen4STEM , @ProfJamesHutson , and @AnnieArnone13 , who conducted a study regarding Perceptions and Barriers to Adopting Artificial Intelligence in K-12 Education: A Survey of Educators in Fifty States. I am honored that my @JHUeducation colleague @karenecaldwell of @sunypotsdam1816 contributed a chapter to delineate her new framework for learning in Learning out Loud: A Framework for Learning in an Era of Information Abundance. My chapter, The Singularity Is Emerging: Large Language Models and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education, examines the impact of large language models and artificial intelligence on education. My upcoming @IntechOpen book, Self-Regulated Learning - Insights and Innovations, will accept chapters during the first quarter 2024. Thanks to my @IntechOpen commissioning editor, Elena Vračarić, and Publishing Process Manager, Elvira Baumgartner, for their continued support and guidance.
