BREAKING: Claire Valdez wins the Democratic NY-7 primary and will be the district's next congresswoman.
Claire worked in fast food and at Trader Joe's, and organized a union before seeking office.
She joins a wave of working people entering Congress to fight billionaire power.
LA Controller Kenneth Mejia said he was supposed to audit the missing homeless $.
Because he was going to do an honest audit, Dems took the job away from him & hired an outside firm that doesn’t even do audits, then pd them millions for false results.
Our campaign raised “almost nothing” and ran outside of the two-party system against a real estate lobbyist backed by the political establishment and $10 million.
People power can and will beat big money!

Our seniors are struggling in America, there is an affordability crisis in America
This is Miss Ruby and she’s still forced to work as this age and physical state
But she’s not the only one, there is a horrifying growing trend for seniors in America
- A record 12.5 million senior households, more than 1 in 3 seniors, are “house poor,” spending over 30% of their income on housing
- 45% of Senior Households Can’t Cover Basics
- 80% Are Financially Vulnerable
- Nearly 12 million Americans aged 65+ are still working, the highest rate in decades
- Nearly 14 million seniors face food insecurity
- 58% of older renters are cost-burdened, spending over 30% of income on rent
Here’s the worst part. Low-income seniors die an average of 9 years earlier than high-income seniors
This can’t continue in America. We are going in the wrong direction
Younger Americans cannot survive with the cost of living as high as it is
This girl shows her gas light is on. She only had enough cash for 2 McDonald’s hash browns, she bas $20 in her bank account
She gets up at 6am to go to work, and still have nothing to show for it
“I'm so sick of America. I'm so sick of our government — I'm so sick of everyone and everything”
This is not the way we are supposed to be living in America. This is not the way we are supposed to be feeling in America
It never used to be like this
The homeownership rate for Americans under age 35 is around 36% as of early 2026, this is significantly lower than previous generations at the same age
About 42% of Gen Z report living paycheck to paycheck, with roughly half saying the high cost of living is their top issue
52% of Millennials say financial pressures are causing them to delay major life decisions like marriage, starting a family or buying a home
Median net worth for Americans in their 20s is roughly $6,600–$26,000
You can’t even afford to start a family anymore in America
a friend called me today. his wife has cancer.
5 months. that’s all it took to erase 20 years of savings. two degrees, zero credit card debt, a paid down mortgage, a retirement account they were proud of.
they did everything Dave Ramsey, their parents, and every financial advisor told them to do.
5 months of treatment wiped all of it out. with insurance. he refinanced the house just to keep her alive. 15 years of equity.
gone.
he told me it turned him into a bitter, hateful person. but he’s not bitter. he’s just a man who played by every rule and still lost everything.
and somewhere in America right now there are thousands of families in the exact same position. doing everything right. losing everything anyway.
this is not a healthcare system. it’s a hostage situation.
and we’re supposed to be proud of it.
When I worked at Sears in the early 90's, the people there built entire lives off those jobs.
The guy running appliances had three kids, coached little league every weekend, and retired after 32 years with a pension.
One of the women in customer service bought her first house working full-time there, and the older guy in hardware took the same vacation to the Ozarks every summer because he could actually afford to unplug for a week.
The managers knew everybody by name, the Christmas bonuses actually meant something, and the store was packed every holiday season because business was booming.
Nobody thought they were "stuck" working retail - it was honest work that paid enough to live with dignity.
Somewhere along the way, corporations started making record profits while the people keeping the place running could barely afford rent.
When exactly did a steady full-time job stop being enough to build a normal life?
You can't tax rich people on unrealized gains from stocks because "it's not real money until it's sold."
So explain to me why my property taxes keep going up based on the unrealized value of my house?
I didn't sell it.
I didn't cash out.
I didn't make a profit.
But somehow I'm paying taxes on paper gains every single year.
Interesting how "unrealized gains" only become a problem when wealthy folks are involved.
This is outrageous.
A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town.
The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it.
The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court.
We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires.
Two years ago, City Hall cut our fraud, waste, and abuse unit's budget.
Today, we still haven't gotten those investigator positions back.
Even AFTER catching TENS of MILLIONS of $ in fraud, waste, and abuse with only FIVE investigators for the 2ND LARGEST CITY IN THE COUNTRY -
Hawaii just enacted a law that effectively neuters Citizens United.
Montana could soon follow suit via a ballot referendum.
Here's what you should know about the plans to get Big Money out of politics — and how they could be replicated where you live.
Disclaimer: cursing.
I’m doubling down on this.
This is one of the most disgusting and out of touch statements I have ever seen from Congress.
Being angry is an understatement.
Shark Tank Billionaire Kevin O'leary says 2 people fighting data centers in Utah are Chinese agents. Turns out its just 2 local girls in Utah, they make a hilarious video calling him the fuck out
Reporter: “To what extent are Americans’ financial situations motivating you to make a deal? [with Iran]”
Trump: “Not even a little bit…. I don't think about Americans’ financial situation”
How the City of LA's Screw-Up in excess police contributions (contributing more than they needed to at the time) keeps taking MILLIONS MORE that could fund things like Animal Welfare or our Audit / Fraud, Waste, & Abuse Unit.
BTW, this is NOT LAPD's fault, it's City Hall's. 💰
My opponent’s mom is spending $2.5 million to take me down, your independent City Controller who’s accountable to YOU, the people.
Their attack ads make no sense and show that my opponent is not qualified to be the City’s accountant and auditor!
Remember to vote by June 2!
They can print money. As much as they want. Whenever they want. They never run out.
But you? You wake up at five in the morning. You stand in the cold waiting for a bus. You work until your feet ache and your hands crack. At the end of the month, they take a piece of what you earned.
They call it tax.
Think about that.
They can create money from nothing. You cannot. You pay for it with the only thing you have. Your life. One hour at a time.
A farmer grows food. The government takes a share. But the government could have simply printed the money to buy food. Why take from the farmer?
Because it was never about the money.
It is about the work. Your work. Your obedience. The fact that you showed up, did as you were told, and never asked why someone who can print money still demands yours.
A slave does not choose his labour. Neither do you. You choose between work or starvation, and you call that freedom.
