Iraqi forces have executed a late night raid, and allegedly captured pro-Iranian politicians like Alia Nassif. The raid took place in the Iraqi green zone, where most government functions operate out of. Raids are continuing into the night where unconfirmed reports state that several more politicians apart of the Iraqi Parliament are being arrested.

Governments have frequently relied on optimistic slogans, inflated promises, and declarations of imminent reform because such language temporarily reduces political pressure. However, when those promises repeatedly fail to materialize, the long-term consequence is the erosion of public trust not only in individual leaders, but in state institutions more broadly.”
