Legitimately practice changing: the #TIGHTK multicenter open label RCT found that in post-op cardiac surgery patients, repleting potassium to 3.6 mEq/L was non-inferior 4.5 mEq/L but saved substantial RN ⏱️ time & 💰 money ($111 per pt).

Relaxed potassium supplementation (threshold 3.6 mEq/L) post-CABG surgery is noninferior to tight control (4.5 mEq/L) in preventing atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery, potentially reducing costs & patient risks. https://t.co/rPSfoaORbl

MAIN FINDINGS - supplementation of potassium when [K+] fell below 3.6mEq/L was non-inferior to current widespread practice of supplementing potassium to maintain a [K+] of 4.5mEq/L. #ESCCongress#TIGHTK
We are delighted to announce that our next round of grants will open on 29th July at 9am. NW Hearts Charity wants to improve outcomes for people with heart disease around Greater Manchester, and to reduce its impact on lives beyond current NHS provision.
Late breaking at #ESCCongress: In patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and obesity, semaglutide (2.4 mg) led to greater reductions in symptoms and physical limitations and greater improvements in exercise function than placebo. Full STEP-HFpEF trial:

@primustime@DrLindaDykes @BartsHospital We have interesting data from AF detected on pacing devices (ie recording continuously, same as apple watches). Short episodes have low progression to longer episodes (where stroke risk is highest). ESC AF guidance 2020 nicely summarises it. ⬇️
