THEORY:

The reason we Olds don't give a crap about the food struggles of the Youngs, and the reason why the Youngs don't get why the Olds don't feel sorry for them, is as follows:

We Olds grew up eating Swanson TV Dinners and a bland, dried out pot roast and canned green beans on Sundays, so when we moved out of the house and had to live on ramen and microwave burritos for weeks at a time, it was no big deal.

The Youngs, OTOH, grew up in the Golden Age of take out of all kinds, with their parents buying high quality meals of all kinds of cuisines, and with all-natural cooking options of incredible quality from places like Whole Foods in abundance, so ramen and microwave burritos feel like a HUGE step down.

My theory. It could be right, it could be wrong, but it's mine.

The way academia will treat a person like Roland Fryer compared to how they treat a person like Jason Arday pretty much says it all.

Roland Fryer's story is ridiculous.

But it also shows that it isn't simply about race. It's about politics and whether you're on the "right side"

He received death threats, required police protection (ironic), and was suspended from the Harvard faculty over a handful of jokes that supposedly created a “hostile work environment.” His research lab was shut down for good measure.

The old Twitter before @elonmusk bought it, flagged and suspended accounts simply for posting the paper, branding it as hate speech.

They had endless tolerance for Arday’s lies.

They went after Fryer for speaking the truth.

That Purple Mountains album came out when I was trying to get clean while staying at a cabin outside of Missoula. It has since become one of my favorite albums.

People like myself said shutting down the global economy for almost 2 years would have economic consequences for a generation. Add in flooding the country with over 12 million illegals you have at least a generation of recovery. People did it anyway. We are now living the consequences of those decisions. Sure you can complain. I do.
But you also have to adjust to the world as it is.

These 2 realities are not diametrically opposed.
