Given the new offer is not much different to the previous one which was rejected, and now strikes have been called off, I wonder which of the BMA leaders got bribed?

The government at press have lied about junior doctors being offered a 22% pay rise. This is the truth:

Pay Offer:

2023/2024: a 4.05% increase backdated to April 2023.
2024/2025: 6% increase plus £1000 consolidated.
The offer brings pay to -20.8% since 2008, effectively taking pay back to 2020/2021 levels, without accounting for future inflation.

Comparison and Impact:
This means newly qualified doctors would be on less than physician associates with a 2-year degree.

This government, like the previous one would like to replace all doctors with physician associates who they pay more. Your surgery will be conducted by people who have never studied any anatomy. Physician associates have no regulatory body.

There have already been a number of serious errors PA that have resulted in poor outcomes for patients.

Don't believe the lies.

@TheBMA The term “junior doctors” should simply be “doctors” and “consultants” be called “specialists”. That would prevent public misconception.

If junior doctors were striking purely for our own benefit, that would be utter stupidity as privatisation would likely mean we get paid what American doctors earn which is often 6-10x what NHS doctors are earning. We are striking to save the NHS for the wider public!

The gov has already used up £1bn to cover the strikes which is the cost of full pay restoration. Clearly the government cares more about winning than what’s best for both doctors and patients.

@StephenJMchugh What about the rest of us who have been junior doctors for more than 7 years with no end in sight and can’t afford a mortgage and still live in shared accommodation? I’m glad he’s fighting for the rest us and for our patients as more doctors leave for Australia.
