Whilst itโs clearly morally wrong itโs not against the rules. Surely the time has come to stop all of these practices. Buy a hotel near Westminster, allow out of town MPs to stay cost free and scrap all these outrageous (additional to huge salary) allowances.
You wonโt hear a word from Tory Journalist @FraserNelson about this.
In 2005, while serving as the MP for Leigh, Andy Burnham was living in the Dolphin Square complex.
When the complex was sold, he received an ยฃ18,200 payout from the new landlord to vacate. Instead of returning the money to the parliamentary authorities, he added it to his parliamentary second-home allowance to purchase and renovate a ยฃ215,000 two-bedroom, ex-council flat in Kennington, South London.
He submitted an expenses claim of ยฃ16,644 to cover stamp duty, legal fees, and a new kitchen. Under the rules at the time, taxpayers also covered his mortgage interest payments.
Renting While Being Paid Rent: Rather than selling the Kennington flat, Burnham kept it, put it on the private market, and collected rental income. Because he still needed a place to stay while working in Westminster, he utilized the expenses system to claim roughly ยฃ17,000 a year in taxpayer money to rent a different flat nearby.

Has anyone found any new bands that are awesome?
Most friends are still listening to the same bands from ~10yrs ago. I'm sure there are multiple reasons for this, but I think I'm genuinely open to new music and I've only run into a couple new bands that are great.
While weโre at it, make them work regular hours and create a new parliament building somewhere fit for the 21st C. Get rid of the arcane language, make PMQs a debate not point scoring confrontation and turn Westminster into a very marketable museum.
All the debacleabout Farage's earning - No MP should have a 2nd job, not on media, not promoting a product, no consulting - NOTHING - bar a very defined few such as hours to kept up qualifications, NHS etc.
All their time should be spent on their constituents' issues/problems.
Andy Burnham looks like he might cancel the NHS England contract with Palantir, they also have one worth 2.5x as much with the MoD.
RT if you want them both out of the UK.
As a retired university lecturer I agree with this. The 50% should go to uni doctrine effectively created great divide & may have badly affected the non-uni cohort. Learning isnโt always linear. IMO neither HE or Tech is superior. Itโs the learning/skills development that counts
It is being reported that Andy Burnham is going to increase the opportunities and significance of technical and vocational education to create parity with academic education. Do you think this is a good idea?
Agree with you on all points Phil - whatever screening/immunisation they offer, take it up. I was saved by NHS aged 6 weeks. Iโm 73 now with 4 sons and 8 grandchildren. Thank you NHS!
3. Not 1 person I dealt with was white English
The NHS is nothing without immigrants so the racists can fuck right off
4.If you get the invite don't ignore it and get tested #nhs#untouchable
I would go for Starless- I showed a video of Frippโs magnificent left hand to my guitar playing son who thought he must have used an e-bow. Fabulous, haunting tune.
Entirely agree Clive. I know some caution against disrespecting those who voted leave but n the main they were at least easily duped. We are far worse off both financially and spiritually.
Iโm living temporarily in an apartment overlooking the Rhine-Amsterdam canal. Massive barges pass up & down every few minutes. Sometimes cruise ships too. The barges carry aggregate, scrap metal, oil & God knows what else. Most fly Dutch flags but Iโve also seen Belgian, Italian, German & others.
Trade = prosperity & wealth. Wealth = freedom (happy to expand) & power.
The English, diseased in the mind & unable to compute the loss of an empire despite not losing a war, lost in cosy myth, cannot see this. Everyone in Europeโs once war-ravaged countries can.
The idea this project will be thrown away so they can hang flags on lampposts & paint mini-roundabouts is completely cuckoo.
Awkward as I find it, as I think Sugar is a silly old dinosaur, his introduction of the affordable Amstrad word processor revolutionised my life and helped me through my first degree as a working father/student in the late 1980s. I respect him for that.
48 YEARS AGO: In July 1978 Amstrad launched the Tower System hi-fi. Unbelievable as it seems now, before then you would have to buy the items separately - turntable, amplifier, radio tuner, cassette deck and speakers - and then wire them all together! Even crazier, hi-fi enthusiasts at the time would buy a separate turntable, arm and cartridge!
Of course we did make matching hi-fi separates before then, but it was the sheer waste of materials (and hence money) that inspired me to make the tower system. Read the full story in my autobiography here ๐https://t.co/xEeW95dSnG
Do we still have good music today, or has something been lost along the way? ๐ถ
I'd love to hear your thoughts. What song or artist reminds you that great music is still alive?
