🌹 In the Rose Garden at Vondelpark, Amsterdam, we honour Olaya, the mother of my four children.
I lost my first wife to suicide in 1995. We had four children together, and she jumped from eight stories up. I was powerless there.
There was no time to mourn properly, to
process the grief. Instead I sought peace in the canyons and within
myself. This is how I sought to survive the grief of my broken heart.
By getting back into the business of life. You can’t dwell. If you’ve got
four children, you just have to be there, you’ve got to be present, and
you’ve got to press on.
Do you know what healed me? The cold water.
It brought me back
into reality. Instead of being guided by my broken emotions toward stress and sorrow, the cold water led me to stillness. Stillness of the
mind. That gave my broken heart a chance to rest, restore, rehabilitate.
And that’s the way it went. My children made me survive, but the
cold water healed me.
New trees would grow and flourish from where she had gone. Those trees would bear
fruit, and that fruit would nourish our souls.
Power is within us all. Anything can be overcome by going within.

More than 40 percent of U.S. residents have experienced mental or behavioral concerns such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and increased drug or alcohol dependence since March https://t.co/9rbTAGALf2
@s_baker48 @tcgobucks@SCOTT_KONKEL@pupadhyaya_@InTheBleachers Extremely inaccurate. Search physiologic cardiac hypertrophy. Also use your brain. Since when does exercise shrink muscles. Also they are talking about inflammation not enlargement. So your comment is irrelevant.
I wrote out some thoughts on how to make this moment a real turning point to bring about real change––and pulled together some resources to help young activists sustain the momentum by channeling their energy into concrete action. https://t.co/jEczrOeFdv
