I found Adipurush too loud and there was an overdose of computer animation. There was also a lot of Planet of The Apes and Game of Thrones thrown in. That’s it. I told my wife that for me it was just a movie but for a lot of others who I’ve been reading here it’s more than just a movie.
And she replied ‘that’s because you’re not a believer.’ She’s a Hanuman Bhakt.
And she said that for her the problem with Adipurush is that her God, will always be clean shaven. ‘Lord Ram never had a moustache. No book worth reading has Lord Ram with a moustache. And nor did Hanuman have a beard when he met Lord Ram for the first time. The beard came only after he went to Ayodhya once Ram was coronated, as he grew older. He never had a beard when he fought Ravan.’
She said ‘Ramanand Sagar gave us the real Ram and Hanuman. You could call the serial tacky for its time but he presented them in the right way. I can’t accept these Gods in any other form or look. For me, that’s two reasons to dislike the movie without even seeing it. And now I never want to see it.’
And I thought that after 36 years, people still fall at Arun Govil’s feet because they believe they still see Lord Ram in him. Will people remember Prabhas the same way even a year from now?
