Women in medicine:
- Earn less.
- Are less likely to be in leadership.
- Have fewer research opportunities.
- Spend 8.5 hours more per week on domestic responsibilities.
Yet, they spend more time with patients and provide better care.
The double standard needs to END.
Today is National Physician Suicide Awareness Day.
- More than 400 physicians die by suicide each year in the US.
- Suicide is the leading cause of death among resident physicians.
- Med students are three times more likely to die by suicide than their peers in other fields.
Saw my new PCP yesterday. Was told my BP is high.
- exercise daily
- avoid caffeine
- eat healthy. Avoid pizza (literally my fave)
- stress management
