Please join us in congratulating Dr. Janet Tootoosis on her appointment as Vice-Dean Indigenous Health. Under her interim leadership, the college accomplished important milestones. We look forward to achieving many more over the next five years under her continued leadership.
Our paper on success of the rural longitudinal integrated clerkship at @UAlberta_FoMD@UAlberta on contributing to the rural physician workforce has just been published. Where medical education happens is important. https://t.co/dCCe2TzeAa
Rural Generalists are formally trained as family physicians. We may have had similar training to our colleagues in the city during medical school and residency, but how we practice, our breadth and depth of our knowledge and skills, are very different.

Important lessons learned: One doctor, two Canadian mass tragedies. To Mike and my rural colleagues: you are specialists in your field, my utmost respect and appreciation for all that you do👏🙌 https://t.co/WzB4kaQQPD
In this very timely work, @USask College of Medicine Admissions Director @TrustinDomes & team explored admissions characteristics predictive of SK- and rural-based medical practice: https://t.co/cnWO8eB7pt
@Brent_Thoma Funneling $$$ and human resources away from full spectrum family medicine towards the ED has no doubt harmed patients in many ways. The lack of investment in primary care and a health care system that prioritizes the ED over the family physician's office is the real issue here.
@jbullockruns This is one of the biggest reasons that Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships #LICs are such a good option, especially rural LICs. Stay in one place for a year, get to know people, be part of a community, become a student-colleague and part of the team.
After two and a half years, the waves keep coming, and its not just COVID now, but the effects of decimated primary care and poor mental health that drive the ventilators and drain the IV pumps. I saw my outpatient practice swell as my patient’s lost their family physicians.
ICYMI: From delivering babies to helping manage the emergency room, @Jamievanderende values her hands-on experiences in Meadow Lake -- via the Saskatchewan Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (SLIC) program. #MyMD

45% of 119 sitting CPC MPs provided active support to #FluTruxKlan
Not mere performative JT bashing, or opposition to the truckers vax mandate, or to implementing EA.
No - these MPs put in extra effort to publicly & overtly promote #OttawaOccupation and/or #Coutts.

I love my children. I tell them life is not just about them. It’s also about the people and community around them. I have 2 degrees, 1 is in immunology. I went to university for 11 years. I’m not sure if it means anything but my son is getting his 3rd shot, so will my daughter.
