1/Please share this thread on behalf of my physician colleague, Eunice Stallman, who is facing the nightmare of her 9mo daughter, Zoey, being diagnosed with brain cancer several weeks ago. @BlueCrossIdaho has added to their anguish by obstructing access to vital treatment.

@ramirnovin Rambod, I am appalled and saddened on your behalf. Parenting is a team sport. I don't even know what to say except that I agree wholeheartedly.
@DrRissman When mine was about 15 months old, she stumbled and fell a few times in one day and I had the same thought 🤦🏻♀️ (she is fine!) I definitely find myself catastrophizing sometimes.
#PedsICU colleagues: talk to me about managing hypoxia with COVID pneumonia.
Does it make sense to push our limits past where we would normally intubate for hypoxia/WOB?
The trend is to follow the adult world with delayed intubation and tolerate hypoxia on HFNC/BIPAP.
How does this company still control the market on baby blankets? All this money we pay for healthcare & they ain’t dropped a new model?
Then the doctors turn around and tell you, “eczema is common in newborns.” I guess so, you got my boy wrapped in this rough ass Motel 6 towel.
@GoodishIntent Loved it too. Can't wait to listen again. It kept me company going to and from work this month and I often found myself smiling and laughing out loud and generally making gleeful noises at the wheel
Finally! An evidenced based treatment strategy for #MIS_C from the @OvercomingCOVID group published tonight in @NEJM. IVIG & Steroids better than IVIG alone at reducing cardiovascular dysfunction. #pedsICU https://t.co/NcdhANUarl
@Medic_Russell Shaking my head as I recall the episode where the surgical residents couldn't diagnose a boy who clearly had Kawasaki disease. I can't blame them for not knowing a core pediatric illness, but perhaps they shouldn't be trying to take the place of an EM provider or pediatrician 🤦🏻♀️
A 45 year old man is found dead in the orthopedic room of an emergency department. He has no signs of trauma and no past medical history.
What do you think happened?

Today it’s Lung #POCUS for you!
It is:
Easy to perform
Accurate
Sensitive
Repeatable
Negates irradiation or transport elsewhere!

Where do we scan then?? Linear/curvilinear or phased probe positions shown👍👇
It's interesting how different centers vary in management. Intrigued by the practice variations for #bronchiolitis and associated difference in length of MV. Correlation =/= causation, but pondering a nasal ETT the next time I see bronchiolitis (it's been a year!!)
Nice restrospective multicenter study from 🇬🇧 demonstrating practice variations and outcomes for mechanical ventilation in infants with bronchiolitis. Great #Infographic too. One of the free articles from @PedCritCareMed March edition.

@MedgibbonsCathy@brownam130@SCCM@BasuND22 I'll admit my ignorance and say that all 3 PICUs I've worked in (training and as an attending) use full maintenance. One PICU would cut it to 2/3 if intubated due to decreased insensible losses. Maybe this is regional? I'm definitely questioning this practice now.
Great perspective with statistics that clearly lays out the reasoning for getting the COVID vaccine. It sucks that we're in a reality where there's no risk-free choice, but we can be informed and make the safest decisions possible.
Choosing to take the #CovidVaccine isn't a risk-free choice, but it’s choosing an infinitely smaller risk than the virus' risk itself. To put it bluntly, in the world of #COVID19 there are no zero-risk choices. @Salem_Statesman@TheOpEdProject
