[NYC Commission on Racial Equity @RacialEquityNYC]

Today, the NYC Commission on Racial Equity (CORE) released a letter urging @NYCMayor to release the Preliminary 2024 Racial Equity Plan (Plan). Our City’s failure to deliver the Plan not only undermines our efforts but also deprives impacted community members of the opportunity to respond to the goals and action steps through which the city proposes to close the gaps in health, wealth, and well-being that generations of discriminatory policies and practices have yielded.

Every morning, Ruby Middleton Forsythe would stand outside Holy Cross-Faith Memorial Episcopal School and ring an old fashion brass hand bell to summon her students to the one-room schoolhouse on Pawleys Island, SC. It was the only one available to Black children during Jim Crow.
