Asst Addictions Lead for The Salvation Army. Also GP working in homelessness. In awe of my primary care colleagues! Personal views. #harmreduction#homelessness
Thanks to @skynews for picking up our report. Admissions to hospital down for general public but up by 60% for people who are homeless.
Need to address mental health and addiction support in the community.
And more specialist #inclusionhealth practices in the UK. @PathwayUK
The number of homeless people seeking NHS treatment has surged in the past four years, as the homelessness crisis fuels a health crisis, according to a charity.

A minibus of people every day. Up by 60% in a decade.
If this was the trend for any other health problem we'd recognise it for the public health emergency it is.
18 people die each day due to drugs. This is a growing crisis in the UK. We’re at No 10 Downing Street today to deliver our petition signed by thousands calling for the government to declare this crisis a public health emergency. Find out more: https://t.co/fWBjhXvr5h

@TomPMarshall@LucyGoBag This is interesting to see thank you. I saw a survey recently that showed that crime is still remarkably high on the public's agenda. I suspect reporting is different to reality.
@DrSteveTaylor@NHSE_WTE@NHSEngland If this went back to 2000 or so, would it show that 2006/7 was a big increase on previous years? Wasn't that about the time of the new contract?
@Tommothebiglad @UKGastroDr@wesstreeting That would turn a lack of doctor posts problem into a lack of doctors problem.
Doesn’t solve the lack of decent healthcare problem.
@JoeMartin73@UKGastroDr@wesstreeting That would be clear cut discrimination wouldn’t it? Not sure why ethnicity comes into this problem. Just not enough dr posts.
@DrSdeG NHS pension for GPs is an absolute car crash that I feel will never get fixed. No idea how much is in there or how much there should be. System to fix it is an absolute joke. Received a reply yesterday from my query about six months ago.
It’s increasingly hard to see a Doctor
Policies made by NHS leaders & Governments have lead to fewer GPs
Many GPs finishing training next month will not have jobs to start, with many unemployed or working less than they would chose
All due to policies & lack of funding for GPs
