@writtenbycats@doemisu Also they aren’t that self aware
A self aware person is aware how pretentious saying how self aware they are sounds and thus wouldn’t make crappy video essays about it unless they also infused irony and a meta into it.
@SpacewaySurf@derpo377 Its when something is great and popular and so people who pride themselves on liking niche/underground material [most of the time they don’t, they just like David Lynch] shit on it.
@sistigmatized@culkinco I don’t care for tom but it helps him out as an actor, Leonardo DiCaprio also has a massive dome. It helps an actor dominates the frame
@dreadphanie@UtterlyInterest Agree completely.
In regard to the satirical nature of it, I tend to view the work as a “authentically inauthentic” condemnation of the patriarchy. I.E solanas expressing her hatred and adding on shock value for artistic reasons or just to catch peoples eyes
@UtterlyInterest Theres a joke in there about how every male “artist” always cites Rimbaud as a influence and feels smart because of it and I think thats really funny
@UtterlyInterest SCUM manifesto is a neat piece of writing, somewhat dated due to the transphobia [even though Solanas lived with trans women] really cool piece of radfem literature still.
@trashkais@trashmanrising Val was difficult to work with because he believed he was above every project he was in because he thought he was a great actor.
Thing is, he was a capital G Great actor who was in movies far below his paygrade.
@ladyvhagar@StarfireKidz I have yet to see a celebrity brand deal/brand where the celebrity, while advertising it looks like they have life in their eyes
@doggoochh@bernardtjoy I hate the “all movies suck now” crowd as much as the next guy but there is much less literary quality screenplays as there used to be. Still 1-3 ish come out each year but compared to the 60, 70, 80s and even 90s its far less.
@dreamlivsome Her acting is subpar compared to other actors in the modern day
Her acting would be considered AWFUL against the talent of the 1980s. Actors were far better back then.
