Very pleased we have a release date and website for "The Political Theory of Liberal Socialism" for @routledgebooks. Coming out November 22nd!

Shot in the dark here, but I'll be in Indiana/ Ohio the week of November 16th. Anyone in a DSA chapter around there who wants to host me for a book event on the 17th, 18th, or 19th?
Every democracy produces an elite class that does most of the actual ruling. Hugo Drochon's recent book asks how that squares with political equality—a kind of “tough love" tract for democracy's friends. Superb review by @MattPolProf.

Liberal democracy has prepared the way for socialism. We need a socialism that builds on liberalism. Protects civil rights and basic freedoms while inspiring egalitarianism as many of the great liberal philosophers such as John Stuart Mill have done.
The American CEO who bought Stelco is openly admitting that he purchased the company to sabotage it.
This is why the Liberals should have never approved Stelco's sale in the first place. When you give away ownership of a critical industry like steel, your economy is forever under another's thumb.
There is only one solution that will save these jobs and put Canada back in the driver's seat: we need to nationalize Stelco.
I appeal to @MattPolProf’s liberal socialism to make common cause between liberals and socialists against fascism. Radical liberalism serves as the roots of egalitarian socialism and the two should be fellow travelers against authoritarians of all types.
Congratulations, Mayor @oliviachow, on your re-election.
We’ve delivered a lot for Torontonians — more homes, new public transit, supportive housing for our most vulnerable — and we’ve got the chance to do a lot more. Look forward to it.
“A How To Guide to Cosmopolitan Socialism” w/ @MattPolProf who considers Brooks inspiration on cosmopolitan socialism from the ending of his book “Against the Web” including universal hospitality of Kant as well as Hegel, Amartya Sen and Cornel West. https://t.co/C2eP3G94fB

Democracy at work! 🌹 At this past Saturday's General Meeting, we discussed and debated 17 resolutions, bylaw changes and amendments submitted by members to shape our chapter structure and strategy.
@Projekt_A119@ronald_beiner@Joshua_A_Tait Way further back, way wider focus. More situating in contemporary debates
Obviously an inspiration though. I love that book
Very pleased to have officially signed the contract to edit "The Thinkers and Philosophers of the Far Right." With contributions from Laura Field, @ronald_beiner, @Joshua_A_Tait and many more
Hoppe has long promoted & been influenced by white nationalists, Holocaust deniers, & far right authoritarians. This is clear in who he cites, what he says, & who he invites to PFS.
Where have I ever said all libertarians are tarnished by association with the hard right? If anything I very carefully indicated that many were not, and provided ideological clarification on the breaks and overlaps...
@MattPolProf Werner Sombart was influenced by Karl Marx. That makes all Marxists Nazis.
Carl Schmidt was influence by Christianity. That makes all Christians Nazis.
Am I doing this right?
F---ing unreal.
Since my new personal account (@JacobinBen) was shut down, so the cryptoscammer who hacked my original @BenBurgis account can't copy and paste my tweets from there, he's starting copying and pasting my posts from Facebook/Instagram/Bsky.
@davemcomie K but that's part of where your error comes in. Property is created by that overarching state and its laws, and requires intense state and private coercion to both maintain and reinforce. So you are not in fact opposed to coercion; just in what you consider illegitimate cases.
@MattPolProf The point is that there is a pipeline from people wanting to have a socialist economy and committing atrocities, that is consistent across several countries on multiple continents, and perfectly understandable on theoretical grounds if you bothered to try.
