This article seems a bit namby-pamby. Anyone else think that Elon and Vivek will cut spending for special ed kids in a heartbeat?

@MarshallDActual @BasedMikeLee Sigh. Everyone’s experience with the special Ed system is so different. If we could guarantee that the states would do a decent job I would be glad to see DOE go away too. But my experience in TX is that local is the pits.

I would love to see a DOE who has the real resources to do just that. It is a pipe dream for sure but just doing away with it will leave many with no support

@MarshallDActual @BasedMikeLee And what happened to your brother was a travesty. They wanted to mainstream him because they did not want to put in the resources. My experience is no one really fights for special needs kids except their parents and the odd teacher or two.

@Michael53199031 @DisavowTrump20 There are lots of ways to deny special education - if you refuse to test then no one will need services. We’ll be back to 1950s in no time when special needs kids were supposed to be kept as a dark family secret. No federal guidelines will result in that real quick.

@MarshallDActual @BasedMikeLee Not complicated. Tx tries hard not to test kids because they don’t want to provide services. Even when they do test they put kids on waiting lists for years. When these no strings attached grants replace DOE the money will go to football not special needs.

Why they don’t even want to test kids now or when they do they put them on waiting lists for years. Lots of ways to deny special education.
