@tfckc#HeadStart staff are participating in @UnifiedGovt @WYCODAOffice lunch and learn with Kristin Henning. We’re here with open hearts & minds to discuss the criminalization of Black youth. Thanks for the opportunity.
@ThisFoolHulu I love the interpersonal dynamics of a multigenerational Mexican family. It explores roles & responsibilities within our culture as well as the importance of seeking mental health services. The soundtrack is amazing! I’ve been talking about the show with everyone. I love it! 🥰
No one can afford to disregard compassion, affection, and so on. Why? Because kindness and compassion are the main qualities necessary in life. A good mind, enriched by love and compassion, is essential for human beings.
We need to think of each other as sisters and brothers, and to be concerned with each other’s welfare. We must seek to lessen the suffering of others. Rather than working to acquire wealth, we need to do something meaningful, directed toward the welfare of humanity as a whole.
Reviving a dialogue happens not with words, but witth silence; not by insisting, but by patiently beginning anew to patiently listen to another person, hearing about their struggles and what they carry inside. The healing of the heart begins with listening.
To give hope to others, sometimes it is simply enough to be kind, to put aside your own worries and priorities in order to show interest, give the gift of a smile, speak an encouraging word, create a space for listening amid so much indifference.
If you practice compassion, whether you believe in a religion or not, you will come to realize the value of compassion for your own peace of mind. Even a small act of compassion grants meaning and purpose to our lives.
After a week of heaviness, I urge each of you to take some time to decompress. To healthily usher in a more just, humane and equitable society we must love and treat ourselves well. Our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies need intention.
Love not only means that we wish others well or that we are good to others, but first and foremost, at the root, that we welcome others, make room for others, make space for others.
The majority of folks with student debt come from families with NO household wealth—it's why they had to borrow in the first place.
We need the boldest & highest impact relief possible and that means across-the-board, broad-based student debt cancellation.
Let's do it, @POTUS.
As a nun, I’m expected to offer thoughts and prayers, and indeed I do. But that’s not enough. We must rise up and take action together to stop this violence. This can’t keep happening.
“No one can leave others peace if they do not have it within themselves. No one can give peace unless that person is at peace.” – Pope Francis #ReginaCoeli
The real source of peace of mind is love and compassion; not the love we feel for those who are close and already affectionate towards us, but an unlimited sense of altruism, a love that can be extended to all beings, including your enemy, which only human beings are capable of.
