'Independent' music isn't independent — until it's decentralized and lying happily in the laps of creators and their fans.

@Suhail @tunesproject @henretig I minted my first NFT today. Wondering how we songmakers might contribute to this in a good way...?

[Daniel Steinbock @dsteinbock]

@Suhail So how might a good (human) songwriter contribute to this project in a helpful and potentially profitable way?

[Prof. Feynman @ProfFeynman]

You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. You are here to create yourself, continuously.

The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude larger than to produce it. -Brandolini's law.

The most powerful way to learn to say no is to make a daily practice of turning towards your unambiguous HELL YES.

[Kenneth Folk @KennethFolk]

There aren't two things.

Everything you do for the whole, you do for yourself. Everything you do for yourself, you do for the whole. Sense pleasures, while endlessly engaging, will ultimately disappoint. Only working for the benefit of all living beings will make you feel right.

[Daniel Steinbock @dsteinbock]

@andy_matuschak Honestly, I enjoyed your note-writing livestream experiment from last year for all the same reasons.

@KrapelsMarco My one hope for space tourism is that more people experience the Overview Effect reported by astronauts: seeing the Earth from space, floating alone in the dark, you see how very fragile it is, and feel the imperative to protect it. https://t.co/Hj5qwCK182 https://t.co/G3KfEXdtkC

Memories drift. We change our minds.
This new research finding is only surprising if you think the brain is merely a computer, storing permanent, unchanging records on its hard drive.

"How can animals possibly make any lasting sense of the world if their neural responses to that world are constantly in flux?"
Mind is a verb, not a noun.

[Nick @nickcammarata]

I wish we cared more deeply about good feelings (vs shallowly). When people say they feel bad, it’s normal to dive in. What does it feel like, where do you feel it, what does it make you want to do? When people say they feel good we say “oh cool, nice”

[James Clear @JamesClear]

Know what you want.

Follow a trajectory where what you want is a possible outcome.

Build a system to incrementally improve your ability to follow that trajectory.

Trust yourself.

Enjoy the outcomes.

Repeat.

You’re not running out of time, you’re running out of energy working on the wrong stuff.

@hrheingold @mames My grad education in a nutshell: we learn best when there are social stakes.

[Daniel Steinbock @dsteinbock]

@hrheingold @mames At Stanford Ed School I put 1-3 students in charge of facilitating discussion for each reading, assigned ahead of time. Those students, at least, read *thoroughly*. Sometimes I contemplated assigning facilitators by random draw at class start but never tried it.
