Fitness. Discipline. Patriotism. The #NCCCyclothon brought all three together as 79 NCC Cadets completed an inspiring 79 kilometre ride to commemorate 79 years of Independence

Hon'ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Mansukhani Mandaviya and Hon'ble Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth not only flagged off this event but also participated as cyclists.

The sports icons Leander Paes and Mary Kom were also part of the event and motivated the youth for a green and fit India.

It was a powerful message for every young Indian: stay fit, stay focused and serve the nation. Each kilometre was dedicated to each year of independence.

The National Cadet Corps continues to shape confident, responsible leaders. One ride. One purpose. A stronger India. Their grit on the road shows what focused youth power can achieve. Let this Cyclothon spark a lasting commitment to cycling and healthy living.

As part of the nationwide #TBMuktBharatAbhiyan, 15 Karnataka Battalion, NCC Group Mysuru, collaborated with the District TB Officers of Hassan and Chikkamagaluru to conduct TB awareness lectures at various colleges across both districts. The initiative witnessed the active participation of NCC cadets and PI Staff, promoting awareness on TB prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, and reaffirming our collective commitment towards a TB-Mukt Bharat. 🇮🇳

Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, DG NCC, called on Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, today to discuss key initiatives for strengthening NCC in the State. Discussions focused on operationalisation of NCC Group Headquarters Goa, expansion of NCC, enhancement of training infrastructure, addressing civilian staff shortages, and development of a permanent NCC Training Centre at Velim. The Hon’ble Chief Minister assured full support for these initiatives.

The DG NCC was accompanied by Air Commodore Kamal Chadha, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate Karnataka & Goa, and Col C. Rajashekar, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Belgavi.

On the occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga, Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate celebrated the event with great enthusiasm and fervour across its area of responsibility. A total of 68 Officers, 435 PI Staff, 783 ANOs, and 40,950 NCC Cadets actively participated in the Yoga Day celebrations, demonstrating their commitment towards promoting yoga as an integral part of a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.

The yoga sessions were conducted at various iconic locations under the Directorate’s area of responsibility. Prominent venues included Miramar Beach (Goa), Tagore Beach, Karwar, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, St Aloysius Chapel, Mangaluru, Madikeri Fort, Vidhana Soudha, Lalbagh, Cubbon Park, Ulsoor Lake in Bengaluru, Mysore Palace, Isha Foundation Chikkaballapur, adding significance and visibility to the celebrations. The event was conducted successfully and witnessed overwhelming participation across the Directorate.

Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General, National Cadet Corps (NCC) visited NCC Directorate (Karnataka & Goa) at Bengaluru today.
The General Officer appreciated the Directorate for winning the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner for the last two consecutive years and motivated to keep the tradition to continue.The General Officer reviewed various functions of the Directorate with Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate, Air Commodore Kamal Chadha, and emphasised upon on greater coordination with the State Government for creating better training infrastructure for the NCC Cadets.
The General Officer also felicitated One ANO, One Permanent Instructor Staff and Three Cadets for their extraordinary performances by awarding them Commendation Card, Medallion and Appreciation Plaque. He interacted with the cadets and emphasised on futuristic training like cyber security and drone technology.

AIR COMMODORE KAMAL CHADHA ASSUMES COMMAND AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL OF NCC DIRECTORATE KARNATAKA & GOA

Bengaluru, 18 May 2026 Air Commodore Kamal Chadha officially took over the reins as the Deputy Director General (DDG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Karnataka and Goa today. The formal handing over ceremony was held at the Directorate Headquarters.

Air Commodore Chadha brings a wealth of operational experience to the role. Prior to this appointment, he served as Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Force Component, Headquarter Andaman and Nicobar Command at Port Blair. His distinguished career in the Indian Air Force is marked by numerous leadership roles and proven track record of strategic excellence.

Upon assuming command, Air Commodore Chadha lauded the NCC Directorate for its consistently high performance. The Directorate has been instrumental in shaping the youth of the region, recently achieving top honors in the National Level Competitions, including the Republic Day Camp (RDC) and various other All India Centrally Organized Camps.

SUPERANNUATES AFTER A HISTORIC AND DECORATED TENURE

Bengaluru, 30 April 2026 - The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Karnataka
and Goa bids a distinguished farewell to its Deputy Director General (DDG), Air
Commodore SB Arunkumar, VSM who superannuates today following a tenure marked
by unprecedented institutional success. Under his visionary leadership, the Directorate
etched its name in history of winning the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner and
Trophy for two consecutive years in 2025 and 2026.
Air Commodore SB Arunkumar, VSM an alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur with over
three decades of service in Indian Air Force, took the helm with a focus on
professionalism, resilience, and a “never-say-die” spirit. His strategic guidance
propelled the Directorate to become overall champion Directorate among 17 others
across India at Republic Day Camps (RDC) in New Delhi. Under his dynamic
leadership, the Directorate secured several prestigious national events, including the
Inter Directorate Shooting Championship, All India Vayu Sainik Camp, All India Nau
Sainik Camp and the inaugural Idea and Innovation and Startup Competition.
Beyond competitions, his tenure saw over 200,000 cadets participate in social
development programs and the successful execution of the Yuva Aapdaa Mitra
Scheme (YAMS). By modernizing training with new simulators and expanding NCC
vacancies by over 16,000, he has fundamentally strengthened the youth empowerment
framework in Karnataka and Goa. His distinguished service concludes as the
Directorate stands at the pinnacle of national performance.

NCC Expands Cyber Security Training for Cadets Nationwide.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), has launched a Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme for cadets.

The initiative includes:
•⁠ ⁠15-hour online training on cyber awareness & digital hygiene
•⁠ ⁠60-hour advanced Cyber Defender training with practical exposure

Aligned with Digital India and NSQF, the programme aims to build cyber-aware, skilled youth contributing to national cyber resilience.
