live excellently. engulf the everyday with such promethean finesse Nietzsche would be envious. leave no youth unspent. expend all energy so absolutely you have to borrow some from your next incarnation. love being so fully you infect all creation. love being so fully you dispel all evil. singlehandedly lift the sentience of all existence. give gratitude then whip yourself for not giving more. apologise to your wrongdoer for not being pure enough to redeem them. forget all history and forgive your mother who said you don’t deserve love. celebrate the capacity to celebrate. become immortal then relinquish immortality to help mortals achieve it. swear unto yourself divine joy. die who you are. die loving. die alive.
This is how culture dies btw. Tataguriang yagit ang sariling kultura at papalitan ng mas proper diumano na kultura mula sa banyaga. Tapos biglang maiinggit sa Thailand kasi nakeep daw ang traditions nila
Interesting to me that the Met Gala gets compared to the Hunger Games more than the Oscars red carpet or the Super Bowl halftime show. All of these involve spectacle, celebrities, and extreme displays of wealth. Notably, only one of them is a charity for a public institution (the Met Gala, which is a fundraiser for The Met Museum).
The difference, I think, is that the Met Gala leans more into unusual outfits. That's natural, given that it's a fundraiser for a costume institute. But to me, the perpetual criticism — which comes up year after year — speaks to how people see fashion as frivolous and not as "serious" as other corners of culture, such as sports or movies. The more extreme the outfit, the more offends the public, even if such work is an expression of artisanship and craft, no different from an artist creating a painting.
I've said it before, but Western culture has a long history of seeing clothes as frivolous, even if everyone engages in self-fashioning. And it's notable that "serious" areas of culture are often masculine-coded (e.g., architecture), while feminine-coded interests, such as fashion, are considered frivolous.
One can reasonably question whether the Bezos are trying to whitewash their reputation through the fashion industry (although I would note that we are all participating on Elon Musk's platform, so I see some hypocrisy among some who criticize the Met Gala but won't deactivate their accounts). But I also think we can tax the rich and encourage them to donate to public causes, including institutions like the Met. Given my interests, I also think we should take fashion and clothing more seriously. Thankfully, some real researchers and academics are making headway in that regard.
A lot of people have tagged/sent me this so I just wanted to say this is technically TRUE, but NOT NEW information. This post is referring to the combined (estrogen-progesterone) oral contraceptive pill, which is probably what most people think of when taking birth control.
The way that this medication works is by preventing ovulation. This is what makes it good as a birth control method, but also effective at treating PCOS and endometriosis. Accordingly, they are also PROTECTIVE against ovarian and endometrial cancers. Conversely, because of the hormonal axis, they INCREASE the risk of breast and cervical cancers.
Again, this is not new information, it's almost 40 years old. Before taking these medications, your doctor should have already gone through your family history and your risk factors before deciding which oral contraceptive to prescribe. This is why we have multiple methods with different hormonal content like the progestin injection, IUD, etc.
There are approximately 180 LANGUAGES in The Philippines. 12 of them are considered the most widely spoken or major, but the rest of the distinct languages are also beautiful and equally important. Here are the Top 12 by order of location, from north to southern regions:
Ilocano
Pangasinense
Kapampangan
Tagalog
Bikol
Cebuano
Hiligaynon
Waray
Chavacano
Maguindanaoan
Tausug
Maranao
There are 100 dialects that belong to each of the languages. For example, Tagalog in Bulacan differs from Tagalog in Batangas. That’s two dialects in Tagalog. Another, Hiligaynon in Iloilo differs from Hiligaynon in Bacolod.
It is a disservice to our rich culture that a lot of Filipinos do not understand the difference of languages between dialects, particularly when explaining it to non-Filipinos. We are the embodiment of diversity. Please study Filipino and Sibika at Kultura more.
JUAN PONCE ENRILE
RAGS TO (CORRUPT) RICHES
Juan Valentin Furagganan, more popularly known as Juan Ponce Enrile, was born on February 14, 1924 in Gonzaga, Cagayan, to Petra Furagganan, the stepdaughter of a poor fisherman.
He was born out of wedlock, as his father, the Spanish mestizo lawyer and influential provincial politician Alfonso Ponce Enrile, was already married.
At the time of his birth, Alfonso served as a representative from the 1st district of Cagayan.
Juan Furagganan was reunited with his father who took legal steps in changing his name to Juan Ponce Enrile, the name that he would use for his pre-law enrollment.
Enrile was a protégé of President Ferdinand Marcos who served as Justice Secretary and Defense Minister during the Marcos administration.
Enrile played a key role in the planning and documentary legwork for Martial Law, and was in charge of the Philippine Military during its implementation.
Other roles in this period included Presidency of the Philippine Coconut Authority through which he gained control of the copra industry and being the general put in charge of logging in the Philippines under martial law — a period during which lumber exports were so extensive that the forest cover of the Philippines shrank until only 8% remained.
In January 2013, while sitting as the Senate President, Enrile was accused of using Senate funds called MOOE as Christmas gifts to members of the Senate who do not oppose him.
This led to his resignation as Senate President without sufficiently answering the controversy.
Enrile was indicted for plunder and for the violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act before the Sandiganbayan on June 6, 2014, in connection to the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.
On October 24, 2025, the Sandiganbayan acquitted Enrile, along with Gigi Reyes.
Ang masamang damo, matagal mamatay. At nag hintay ma acquit.
That is the tragedy of the Enrile legacy over a century.

If they say “pasma”, pay attention. In my experience it could mean peripheral neuropathy (usually median nerve), hyperhidrosis, or even Parkinson disease or essential tremors.
Part of history taking is respecting our language. Using it and not English doesn’t make us illiterate
"Pasma" is our ancestors' way of describing a physiologic phenomenon or a constellation of symptoms. Its lack of direct translation in Western Medicine doesn't mean it's invalid nor its users illiterate.

there is no record of this photo prior to 2024 so it's safe to assume that this is AI. while this may seem harmless, the use of AI to establish false histories is indeed very dangerous. we are living in the age of misinformation.
