@RutgersAltRoute THANK YOU Rutgers Alt Route. The webinar segments before this chat were perfect. The right amount of content to understand the concepts and know where to go to learn more. Have a great day everyone! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@XinzhuLi824@RutgersAltRoute I like that you show specific examples of correct responses or techniques - and not just comment on what students get wrong (the red ink all over the page). Giving next steps can also help them see the way to improvement. Thanks for sharing! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A5: High School ELA. Positive feedback that focuses on the effort and persistence a student makes goes a long way to both boost the student's confidence and keep them motivated to continue. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: We've been introducing more activity-based assignments and group projects. We assess those not by giving a grade, but on participation, helping others understand what you know, etc. Also, verbal feedback! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3: Framing is an effective way to help students understand that new material is exciting and provides them an opportunity to learn and grow. It's also important they know you have their back to take academic risks. Make them feel we're in this together. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@i_Teach_ESL@RutgersAltRoute Hi Ms. Gordon - I'm an ELA teacher too. I also believe non-verbal messages are important. I show support of a student when participating in class by nodding my head "yes" ... even if their answer is wrong! I find something "right" about it. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@slim_terez@RutgersAltRoute Hi Terez - I agree with you and try to make mistakes seem more positive. They give me an entry point to have more detailed conversations with students when I can see what they don't understand. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A2: Create a warm climate for every student in the class (not just those we think are high performers); teach more diverse material; give all students equal time to respond and discuss. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute#TeacherEd#GrowthMindset Challenges of Fixed: once students and teachers decide a student's potential, it's more difficult to change it. Opportunities of Growth: the sky is the limit!
@GuharoyTri57651@RutgersAltRoute Hi Trisita - your response is spot on! Strong structure and process at the school level and collaboration across teams must also be present for individual classroom strategies to work!
@_bpx246@RutgersAltRoute Hi Bianca - I agree and our school is trying to work better as a holistic team toward each student, so they feel consistency across classrooms, teachers, and topic areas!
@RutgersAltRoute A5 #TeacherEd#SpEd. We are having the conversations now to revamp our model to first work toward more and more inclusivity. Then provide a classroom structure that differentiates learning so lessons are accessible and relatable to all the different learners in one classroom.
