@RutgersAltRoute A5: Positive feedback!!! Even if your feedback is constructive, it is important to highlight what they did really well. Glows and Grows! Keeping positivity is infectious!!

@RutgersAltRoute A4: My curriculum is very strict. I am not allowed to change our large assessments. It is really hard because these tests do not support my students at all. I now make other assignments worth the same amount to help them show their skills #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I think frequent check ins with my students can be very helpful in knowing what can help them reach growth mindsets. Knowing my students better will let me know how to help them and motivate them the best! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A2: I’ve noticed that a smile goes a long way! I am all about posters and positive sentence stems in my classroom, but the thing that has been working best for me is a reassuring smile saying “you got this!” It’s made a huge difference for my students! #TeacherEd#Growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A1: My students do not have a strong growth mindset. They believe that if something is hard for them at first , it’s no use and they will never be good at it. I teach math, so I see this a lot.
I always try to emphasize that they can grow!
#TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A5: I think more specific discipline strategies and keeping a structured discipline routines can help with procedures and can limit stress in class. #TeacherEd
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I would really like to try a self report form (students updating me on anything and everything) to help them feel like they can talk to me about whatever. The better the relationship, the more they will be willing to learn! #TeacherEd
@RutgersAltRoute A3: Making accommodations (ie. giving them more guidelines that are specific) can really help them in class. Having something for them to physically hold and look at can be really helpful! #TeacherED
@RutgersAltRoute A2: One On One instruction is incredibly important and effetive for students. Sometimes they can get overstimulated and overwhelmed, and meeting their level can really help with stress and allow them to feel open to learning #TeacherEd
@RutgersAltRoute A1: I feel that its so important to keep inclusivity in classrooms. I work with my co-teacher who specializes in students with learning disabilitites! I make sure to have reference sheets in class for them to use with vocabulary to guide them! #TeacherED
@mktishey@RutgersAltRoute I agree!!! I was in third grade when I experienced my first hit of test anxiety, and I’m sure it’s staying even younger now. It is so important for teachers to recognize this struggle and do as much as they can to help combat this! #TeacherEd#stereotypethreat#testanxiety
@torres_4040@RutgersAltRoute Yes! The positivity from teachers makes the world of a difference! Even if there was hard days with certain students, telling them to have a good day and reminding them of your pride in their work may make a bad day they are having, that much better #TeacherEd
@mi33854@RutgersAltRoute Knowing them and addressing them by name makes a world of a difference. I remember how seen I felt as a student when an adult remembered my name, and I want to make sure students feel their importance too #TeacherEd
@NobleHasThought@RutgersAltRoute Being interested in their talents and abilities makes them feel so valued. Some of these kids don’t get that at home so it’s so important to make sure they get it at school #TescherEd
@RutgersAltRoute A5: I make sure to greet every student with a smile as they walk into my class. I always check in with them to make them k ow they are valued and I am happy they are here #TeacherEd
@BriHeri21@RutgersAltRoute Being a role model is HUGE!! Students are very impressionable, and will mimic behavior all the time, so it is so important for model behavior to be a part of their daily lives #TeacherEd
@dtsmorinRU@RutgersAltRoute Incorporating bullying into lessons is a great way to combat this issue and teach students to be an upstander. These lessons will reach every student in your class, and spread education and information about bullying prevention #TeacherEd
