The Dtube network team will be releasing details on our upcoming IPFS/decentralized storage platform soon. Similar to services such as Temporal and Pinata Cloud. This project is working way beyond just Dtube fit the needs of Dapps, personal storage, and many more. Stay tuned!
@shitbone127 @derrickfoote86 How many redundant copies does temporal keep of a single IPFS object? What kind of server side protections do you have in place?
@shitbone127 @derrickfoote86 It was clearly stated the project is under heavily developmental beta. $0.05 is unfeasible when storing 40tb of data. We would be looking at $2,000 per month. It is estimated that the same amount of data can be stored for $500/month. Even lower if considering siacoin backing.
@shitbone127 @derrickfoote86 The main server that operates the data is configured to RAID 1. This is subject to change in the future as we continue to work towards a full production system. Having multiple server sure does protect against single server failures.
@shitbone127 @derrickfoote86 Absolutely if users do not pay, their data will be eventually removed. Data may be removed before the end of the prepaid pin lease. Option of doing pay as you go best suites our needs...
@shitbone127 @derrickfoote86 IPFS Cluster give us the ability to have multiple redundant copies across a group of administrated IPFS nodes. Additionally we are looking into the ability to use siacoin distributed storage as a backup option, or cold storage for data that is rarely accessed.
