@dstaples@lunz71 He also isn't on a massive contract. He's near the end of his and wants to make sure he gets a big deal 2 years from now, sitting out a whole season won't help.
@maxwellmarko@KalahadF It's pretty common to play in the WHL in draft+2, you obviously don't understand the rules. His options were the NHL or WHL, just because they didn't rush him to the NHL doesn't mean he is a bad prospect.
@Leafsthoughtz@LeafsUpdates21 the same position as Lafferty last year. If a few teams actually want him they'd offer something as opposed to another team getting him, it's not like a late round pick is worth much to them
@Totally_Offside samsonov was a lot more proven than woll which is why he got 3.5. Arbitration takes into account games played for goalies, 30 games would have given him nothing in arb. Which is why swayman got 3.4 last year. Woll is not better than swayman.
@Leafsthoughtz@LeafsUpdates21 Might as well trade him and get an asset if you can, not likely he passes through waivers. Lots of non-contending teams can always use a young offensive defenesemen
@JeffVeillette Everyone on leafs twitter also talked extensively on how the world class doctors would save matt murray and make him a vezina goalie. And we all know how that turned out.
@joeyferg@jarematmul The irony being that marner was paid something like top 7 in the league right out of the gate. So no benefit to the leafs on a long term deal whatsoever, might as well have bridged him at that point. What's the worst that could have happened, you pay him top 7 $ a few years later
@Leafsthoughtz@LeafsUpdates21 It's really hard to carry 8 defense on a roster, and even if it were possible it would mean no extra forwards, makes no sense. And he's the 8th D
@Jfc1Ranger How exactly would that trade work? The rangers getting the obvious best player for someone that no one wants at his full salary and a draft bust?
@berezin_goal This was a bad trade even at the time, Barrie was on a 1 year contract, and the whole thing with Kadri was that he had an amazing contract and it was for 3 more years. The Avs definitely should have added more.
@joshbeleaf Are you saying 9 games to keep him under the 10 game mark? Because first off he already played 4 so it would be 5 games to keep him under. Also his entry level contract isn't eligible to slide anymore, he burns a year regardless.
@Graham_CGY@_nitram9@salimvalji That's also assuming they paid for insurance on that contract. Which they may not have especially with such a small contract. We've seen many smaller teams not pay for insurance before and calgary is in the bottom half of the league.
@Graham_CGY@_nitram9@salimvalji That's not necessarily true, they'd have to put in a claim with their insurance provider and it would have to be approved. IR/LTIR is a NHL construct and not related to insurance, especially since it's not hockey related.
