I studied architectural design in Cameroon and every architect they taught me was European. Every movement, every theory, every name on the required reading list. The Great Mosque of Djenné, the Moorish arch, Great Zimbabwe never appeared on any syllabus.
Now I am studying management and every economist is Western. George Ayittey, a Ghanaian who built an entire economic framework for African development, has never appeared in a single lecture. Dambisa Moyo, a Zambian economist who argued that Western aid is destroying African economies, same.
Two disciplines. Not one African name in the required reading.
This is not only an architecture problem. It is medicine, law, economics, history. Every field is taught through a foreign lens and when a student tries to think beyond it they are disciplined for it.
We are not behind because we lack knowledge. We are behind because we were taught that ours does not count.
Personally I am of the view that it is a big deal that Ruto was the ONLY African Head of State at the G7 big table notwithstanding how he got there. Initially it was SA’s slot. But going by his core character where his private personal interests always overrides public interest I can bet to my last coin that there will be zero benefit to the Country. He will be the only beneficiary from the photo ops and possible personal deals in future.
Most people do not know that The Public Procurement and disposal Act plus its Tenderpreneurs have contributed not only to Ugliness of the human soul but also to a bloated Built Environment.
We used to have simple working things but those days are gone. Everything costs a billion more! Let me share one example.
The Case of Gates.
This simple gate by Dr. Architect Rukwaro was built during honest times at University of Nairobi.
In fact, he used it to teach the students principles of good design.
You can see that it works and does not hinder entry and exit. It is simply a good gate with a minimalist canopy and agrees with the overall aesthetic of the university (then).
It was made before we entered the Crazy period of Public Procurement and Disposal Act (Tenderpreneurship)
The later was done by another University at a cost of Kes. 70 Million.
We now have gates where the lowest bidder is quoting over Kes. 100 Million.
The Public Procurement Act and its revolving door with the corrupt is a problem. Things are costing triple at half the quality

There's a game called Unajua, it's like Charades but localised to the kenyan market.
We played it with some strangers & when the name 'Karen Nyamu' popped up , everyone's description was 'senator mwenye hana akili' 😭😭😭😭 They one holding the phone didn't even think twice.
Mtaamka tu.
Irungu Kang'ata is building smart cities and you think he is setting a standard for the people?
He is the ultimate World Economic Forum puppet.
Remember: "should the people demand a hero, we shall supply him."
Mtaamka tu, but it'll be too damn late, we won't have a country then.
Kang'ata, Ndindi Nyoro, Kimani Ichugwah...these are the same people who sat and watched the UhuRuto administrations enslave Kenya into debt and destroy the middle class with over-taxation.
Let me remind you people again what you should be chasing;
A people's revolution.
A change in ideas and definitely a change in leadership.
From budgeted corruption, to a people empowerment centred governance.
A return to free markets.
Deregulation of the economy.
Investiment in manufacturing.
Reverse Kenya from an import to export nation.
Free education.
Zero income tax.
Cheap energy.
Strong national defence.
Nationalisation of minerals and natural resources.
Auditing the nation's debt.
Executing thieves of public funds and assets.
Severing ties with the IMF and World Bank.
Leaving Commonwealth.
Delinking the Central Bank of Kenya from the Bank of England.
Building an economic bastion and a superpower right in this land.
Dear Nationalists,
We Are The Opposition.
Let's not confuse and scapegoat bad parenting with system failures. And use utumishi as an example.
If schools are overcrowded.
If emergency services are unavailable
If capitation is low
If schools feel like mini prisons etc....
Those are not consequences of bad parenting.
I am from visiting a vocational training center in the outskirts of Nairobi single handedly set up by a visionary Kenyan Woman. She equips Kenyan youth with sophisticated welding skills using virtual reality technology and sends them to Europe and soon Canada for high value jobs. Got me thinking about Ruto who wants us to celebrate him for sending our young people to the Middle East for slavery type of jobs.Between those two who really qualifies to be considered Presidential material? It’s time we stop accepting low standards in choosing leadership.
Tribalism is the weapon of those who have nothing else to offer in leadership. Those who use tribalism to politick are empty of any other innovative, meaningful discussion. As Kenyans we must reject tribalism and shun this barbaric menace.
@Wordslinger__ It is that foundation that has made us to be the people that we are now... it's the one that has made them liars and thieves eh? They really don't listen to themselves as they speak.
@BravinYuri@MullyJnr Kuwachukulia maposition hapa na pale 😂
They say luck is when opportunity meets preparation.
Yake ni Ku prepare.
Yetu ni kumake sure opportunity haimpati.
Let's kill the mediocrity in our politics and leadership.
@BravinYuri "We have the resources" 😂 @OCTOPIZZO remember me telling you, treat politician's kids as you would the politicians. There's no morality in tbe fight for f liberation
Today, 12th June, we get to hear the reading of the National budget statement, the reasons for resistance to cutting government's wasteful spending, and the justification for the Finance Bill 2026. The Finance Bill 2026 aims to increase the cost of essential goods despite the country experiencing a very high inflation at 6.7 per cent. Will the budget statement from the Ministry reassure Kenyans and reduce the cost of living for us?
@manucho__ke@JustEvansK Well...the meaning of his name is something that never occurred to me, but a tweet still landed me at information's door. The saying, "there is power in a name" is ringing loud.
