Nice! As a former Civil War reenactor, I've eaten my fair share of hardtack in camp. I made some that lasted for years.
When I went to the USS Constitution Museum in Boston, I saw their 19th century ship's biscuit on display. It's like hardtack, but round. Here's a good article on the subject.

@xpatriciah The wife and I did in the last month for a Girl Scout meeting. We help lead a small troop and tested some different recipes and ratios for a couple days and it was a hit.
The happy end: Karen cut him loose recently. He has the run of her property in the woods now.
