My theory is simple and it is that Trump wants Argentina to win the World Cup more than the USA so he could use it as a propaganda for white supremacy and anti immigration. Argentina is the most racist country in the world which calls non-white people a problem and prides itself in being the “whitest country” in South America whereas all the other teams like France, Spain, Portugal, England and even the USA are diverse and multiethnic.

Hence all the favors from the FIFA and the refs since the start of the tournament for Argentina.
