You have to know that “how” the Eucharist worked was a puzzle 🧩 to the early Fathers, but none, zero, nada rejected the necessity of it. In fact, Luther (vehemently) and even Calvin believed in the necessity of the Eucharist and even the Real Presence (Luther). They both vehemently disagreed with Zwingli, who felt it was symbolic. So your argument of “inconsistency” is the worst “pot meet kettle” argument EVER.
Listen, this is fascinating stuff, the stuff that made me giddy about Catholicism when I truly, truly (my John impression) learned the truth of the Catholic faith. It’s really cool to learn the history. It will make you Catholic if you don’t go into it with presuppositions. That’s the hard part. God bless!
As for the puzzle, it progressed in explanation, but was never ever changed from the real presence. It’s like our understanding of gravity, how we explain it changes, but gravity is the same as it always was, just like Christ! Amen!
@vanguard_truth@brothercxsf Christ is love, your hatred toward others is from Satan. Your words spew hatred. Therefore they cannot be true. I will pray for you, amigo.
@MyaView2@BibleInContext1 Not correct. The real presence is discussed in the Bread of Life Discourse in John 6, hence why did everyone leave? and also again by St. Ignatius of Antioch (d. 107).
This is why you will never accept the truth. I will pray for you. When faced with Christs true Church, you create your own. This is the fallacy of modernity. This is the pride of Luther and Calvin coming to full fruition. We must be humble before Christ and understand that God did not come to die, just to wait 1550 years to establish a true church. This was the early Church set up by the disciples in Acts. It’s not imagination nor a later construct.
@MyaView2@BibleInContext1 In fact, Ignatius himself refers to 1 Cor 11 in his letter to the Church at Philadelphia. Here is an excerpt of the teaching….
None of those are true. They are written by a man…my point exactly, you listen to whatever man you want to. The Didache, The Odes of Solomon, Clement, Ireneaus, Justin Martyr and every Church father from 30ad to modernity speak of the Eucharistic meal. Yet you post something written by a man you know nothing about, have no idea what you are truly saying. Pagans actually acused Christians of cannabilism bc they didn’t understand the Eucharist. That in of itself shows the discrepancy. Hellenistic thought was part of culture just like American culture pervades everything today, including the Protestant religion. American Protestants today are more American than Catholics were Hellenistic. Read “The Hidden Manna”. It’s a 310 page refutation of everything you just said.
@ManassehRJones I disagree. Hearing about Jesus without substance is why I converted from Protestantism to Catholicism. 2000 years of Christs teachings causes fatigue when you aren’t familiar with it. That’s the issue, not someone talking “too much” about it.
Mary’s humility makes her the consummate answer to God’s call. She is the human figure of who we should all strive to be. God made her holy for us to follow her lead. Eve faltered. Abraham faltered, hesitated. Noah failed. David failed. Solomon failed. The Israelites failed. Zechariah failed and could not speak. Mary did not. That’s the entire point of Luke’s early gospel. You must truly learn your Bible, and God’s call to holiness. Christ and Mary are not either/or. That’s a Protestant fallacy. They are both parts of God’s plan. The greatest thing one can learn is not the Bible. But Christ’s humility. Mary showed that humility in its fullness. God is not jealous of that.
@Truth_matters20 I have come to realize over the years that the majority of religious people do not actually care about objective biblical truth. They just want to be prooftext a part of Scripture that makes them feel comfortable.
@MyaView2@beforegodapp@ManassehRJones You completely miss the point that you tell me what is valid and what isn't, when both arguments are based in Scripture. You have no self reflection skills whatsoever.
Many people fail to realize why Sola Scriptura is good in theory but untrue. God gave us all we need for salvation but not all we need to live our lives. Protestants write 10,000 books a year and say only thing you need is Scripture, then spend 300 pages giving their man-made opinion on Scripture…irony at its finest. Yet they don’t see it…it’s okay to come from a man as long as isn’t “the man” telling you what to do. That is the sin of modernity. The sin of pride.
@MyaView2@beforegodapp@ManassehRJones 40,000 reasons of why self-interpretation leads to 40,000 versions of Gods word in the Protestant Church. Because you reject the church and then listen to Pastor Bob
I was Protestant my whole life until I began my Masters in Theology. Then I learned the Protestant position is largely untenable. True humility is giving yourself to God and his teachings. True pride is thinking you yourself know all the answers. I don’t know the answers, but people do. Those people are the true Church that has survived 2000 years. It is far from perfect, but it not self-imploding like the Protestant church is bc it has no true anchor, just unending interpretations with no checks or balances…
