@AITA_reddit The overreaction to and policing of someone’s behavior that does not harm or affect anyone else in anyway seems like a metaphor for something that starts with homo and ends with phobia
We need to take away the marketplaces for racists and abusers. We need to see monetary consequences (stop selling their products) for this behavior instead of an increase of press (online attention that is cancel culture)
Cancel culture is not effective because there are no consequences for being “cancelled” Shane Dawson and Jeffrey Star have to face any consequences for their actions until companies stop stocking and selling their products.
It doesn’t matter how many subs they lose on YouTube or how many people publicly denounce them when their products are still bought and sold. This goes for all celebs! Lost followers are not real consequences!
Embarrassing that i was in love with a white boy who says he’s “apolitical”, he won’t vote, donate, protest or do work for allyship, but will gladly appropriate black culture, music and fashion
Why was there no concern when another student was following me, cornering me in hallways, and stopping by my dorm daily? Why is this just now coming up? Why was i ever told this was okay, this behavior was “normal” to begin with?
