@RedhillRail@_JonathanEssex@reigatebanstead@SurreyCouncil I understand that, but if you keep traffic lights and phase them correctly, then there's no passing traffic. Traffic would not flow as freely, but Reigate town centre would be attractive and the businesses would come back. Seems like something the council should be debating?
Attention everyone who cares about climate change!! 🚨🔔‼️
Are you feeling worried?
Well, we can offer you a HUGE piece of hope:
Advocate for nuclear! 💪🏼♥️⚛️🌎🌱
This is the way.
@RedhillRail@_JonathanEssex@reigatebanstead@SurreyCouncil Yes, but it could remain one-way, and northbound traffic could use Bell street then turn right and go the other way along church street. You could then pedestrianise from tunnel road to the red cross
It is high time for the EU to PROHIBIT all imports of Russian gas in any form - LNG or piped gas.
Hungary, Slovakia and Austria need to stop their importation of Russian gas through pipelines at the end of 2024.
All EU imports of Russian LNG should be proscribed end 2024.
@_JonathanEssex Why isn't it pedestrianised? From bell street to the red cross could be like the pantiles in Tunbridge Wells, bringing in visitors from miles around. Doesn't need a bypass, just change the one-way system to two-way and everybody wins
@Robt_Stephenson@LocomotionSHD I've always wondered why the real locomotive has the cylinders almost horizontal, but the replica (and all the models) has the cylinders at near 45°. Was there a design change at some point?
@Modern_Railways Yes but for low frequency routes with no freight
There’s cost of 25kV cables between OLE sections and Battery EMUs cost more per mile (per mile 2021 ScotRail info EMU -£1.32. BEMU £1.62)
As @Captain_Deltic will confirm discontinuous electrification of EWR is crazy
The most common objection we get to nuclear energy is, "What about the waste?"
We’re always happy to tell people that we ❤️ nuclear waste.
Small volumes, safely stored and managed, and naturally reducing over time. But the best part is, it’s not waste at all—watch to find out why.
Europe waking up to the possibility of being forced to allocate 20% of GDP to defense.
Germany probably really wishes they would have just given Ukraine what they needed to handle it when they asked.
With sanctions off Russia, the war machine that Russia will build with North Korea is no longer something Europe can handle.
Oh NATO you say? Trump wants US out of NATO.
China's first CAP1400 has entered commercial operation. It's construction began in June 2019. A construction time of just over 5 years is pretty damn good for a FOAK reactor! Article link in reply.
They expect to achieve a build time of 50 months (just over 4 years) for subsequent plants.
According to the article:
"The CAP1400 is an enlarged version of the CAP1000 PWR developed from the Westinghouse AP1000, with consulting input from the USA-based company."
So, does this mean that China will not be allowed to sell, and build, CAP1400 reactors abroad? The article's byline suggests that China is expecting to export them. I hope they can and will.
I get the concept of intellectual property rights, and understand that the West is trying to reign in China's influence (in the nuclear power sphere, and in general). But it's frustrating that the people who know how to build plants quickly at a low cost may not be allowed to build plants around the world. It's one more way in which nuclear just can't get a break.
@EnergyJvd Using breeder reactors and the uranium in the world’s oceans, we have enough energy to power civilization until the sun burns out.
We have the knowledge, we don’t have the political will.
