@graninas I like your post, yet disagree. Gen AI, like a mirror, will reflect your motivations. Yes, it can call the same text excellent or complete trash depending on the prompt. But try both and see which justification you like better. It's a thinking tool that magnifies your abilities
@techNmak Exactly. I used to like LogSeq but alas they are also transitioning to a classical database architecture to make it faster. Obsidian is already quite fast yet inspectable.
@Plinz@pbwinston So you simulate water in a simulated world. Then you create a bit that turns on if it is 'close enough' to the water, off otherwise. Is that poor bit now wet? Or is it poor and wet in your interpretation??
@damimorley1@ylecun@nxthompson Also, all this talk about models 'blackmailing' the users and so on would be surprising only if the training data (all the text and imagery in the world) would have absolutely 0 reference to such behavior.
@damimorley1@ylecun@nxthompson These models are predicting what a plausible convo would look like. To do this they look at the samples in the training data and create representations that are useful. So it's no suprise that if you look at two 'emotionally similar' convos, some internal states will match.
@badbirb@Amagi1234567@balajis If the rest of the world has to pay more, we will export to them because whoever pays more gets to buy it. So there will be a shortage at home and hence prices will rise here, too. There's a reason it's at 4$ a gallon now.
@balajis How did he "persuade first, and compelled only when necessary"? Didn't they imprision anyone with a tattoo basically? Of course they're going to pick up all the criminals and a lot of other people too. Since you seem to disagree, I'm genuinely curious where I could be mistaken.
@LindseyGrahamSC@POTUS Just a week ago he said he didn't need help - the British shouldn't bother going there... And he has been heaping insults on the Europeans for the past 2 yrs! If you value our alliances so much, why don't you try getting your messaging straight?
@JEyal_RUSI@JustasPetrazole@Microinteracti1 But it doesn't stay if he had actually worked in the US after the permit expired. It just says he gave up on getting the green card and left. So what's the big deal? They were clearly tourists with no interest in staying.
@ScottAdamsSays Yeah. Except no one understands why it should feel like something to be a being in a simulation. Unless it's a 'being' peering into the simulation from the outside. Which is totally different from the AI scenario I gurss.
