@Demon_Realms The faster max aperture, better AF and IS notwithstanding, the Sigma or Tamron might be a better choice. They often optimize for central sharpness whereas the L series tries very hard to get optimal lens performance right out to the edges of a full frame.

@Demon_Realms A crop does change things somewhat. Lens performance can easily become the limiting factor, even at relatively high ISO. The Canons L telephotos also have excellent IS and autofocus performance and are generally tack sharp wide open. If birds in flight are important go canon.

@Demon_Realms If it's for wildlife and the max aperature is the same, I would bias towards the longer lens. Animals love to show up when you're shooting way higher ISO than you like and you'll want the subject taking up as much of the sensor as possible.
