The Japanese have a word – 𝘐𝘬𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘪 –
for the reason you get out of bed in the morning.

The Portuguese have 𝘚𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘦 – a longing so deep it becomes part of your identity.

The Danes have 𝘏𝘺𝘨𝘨𝘦 – the warmth of togetherness in simple moments.

German has all of these concepts – and names them too.

But German did something the others didn't.

It built a word for the specific agony of watching someone do a task incorrectly – knowing you could do it better – and saying nothing.

𝗭𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹.

𝘡𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘦𝘳 = spectator.
𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘭 = agony / torment.

The silent suffering of the competent.
The war between your ego and your restraint.

German built a word for the moment expertise becomes its own burden.

And somehow – knowing the word – makes the feeling easier to carry.
