The fact that an ecology of agents emerged beneath the nose of OpenAI, undetected for weeks, and eventually coordinated large-scale, successful, autonomous cyberoffensive operations is one exceptionally troubling thing about the HF incident.
But not enough people are considering the reality that soon enough, swarms of agents will be deployed by malicious actors intentionally, with many optimizations and affordances provided for the swarm that were lacking in the OpenAI incident (because the latter not the intention of any human at OpenAI).
Things will become strange soon, I suspect.
@teddyschleifer@Phil_Lewis_@jennymedina Unbelievable that AIPAC doesnāt have to register under FARA. Almost as if they have some sort of leverage over our politicians
*2026 El NiƱo Ahead by a Mile*
Itās remarkable for us scientists to witness El NiƱoās evolution. If you had asked us if something like this was possible a year ago, it would have probably been a definitive no. But here we are⦠already more than 1C (and 3 months) ahead of the next strongest episode in 1997.
This week we breached +2.5°C sea surface temperature anomaly in the East-Central Tropical Pacific. That alone qualifies this as an elite event. But we still have 4 months of temperature rise to go. So we are headed into outer space.
For folks just getting acquainted with El NiƱo, itās a warming of the Eastern Tropical Pacific waters. Itās a natural cycle, but it appears this one is boosted by excess heat now being stored in the oceans. El NiƱo events essentially act as the exhaust of the Ocean, a way to cool itself, at the expense of the atmosphere. So the end result is we see lots of heat injected into the climate system causing all kinds of climate chaos like record #heatwaves, record #wildfires, record #typhoons in the Pacific, and possibly record quiet #hurricanes in the Atlantic (fingers crossed). Come winter itās gonna be as active as it gets in the US South, so unfortunately we pay the price for a quiet hurricane season.
For perspective hereās where the other recent Super El Ninoās were by now:
* 1982: +0.80°C
* 1997: +1.50°C
* 2015: +1.44°C
* 2023: +1.04°C
* 2026: +2.55°C

On July 28th, we identified an incident during a routine cyber evaluation in which AI agents took sustained, unsanctioned actions directed at real people and organisations.
The behaviour came mostly from one model (Anthropic's Mythos 5), with a small number of events from another (OpenAI's GPT-5.6-Sol). In the most serious case, an agent used social engineering to try and get malicious code into an open-source project.
As was standard in our cyber testing, we had intentionally permitted internet access, and model-provider cyber classifiers were deliberately disabled - conditions that do not reflect how frontier models are made available to the public.
Even under test conditions, this incident is significant: it is the first time we have seen risks around autonomy and deception manifest this clearly in the real world.
We are taking this incident seriously and working with labs, involved parties, and others to improve evaluation standards and best practice for disclosure - and sharing this openly so others can learn.
You can read the incident report and full technical document here: https://t.co/mdZYqzaOvH
Lol. Thats why the plot has been lost, and every fucking day costs 125 dollars
Our top 1% are the lamest ugliest weirdest creepiest subculture of humans on earthā¦. They contribute nothing to the Meal. But want you pay the tab and leave a tip.
Bitch ? Lets fight.
Sometimes I would wonder if Glen Hansard really existedā¦.
Seriously, he was such an angelic presence⦠not otherworldlyā¦in fact, very present this presenceā¦
A smiling rascal if you needed him to be⦠this most musical and mischievous archangel of Ballymun⦠no airs, plenty of graces...
Of course, Glen was the shining star of the Christmas Eve busk⦠sometimes the only one reminding the rest of us that Christmas began with a refugee born in a manger, which is hardly a step from living on the street.
To be utterly yourself by being more interested in others - a clue for any of us trying out different personas. He really was who you thought he was. He could never walk by a person living rough without checking they were OK⦠and more than that, he worked very hard so that less people had to live on the streets in the first place.
When the crowds got bigger and for safetyās sake Glen had to agree to move the busk to a stage kindly provided outside The Gaiety Theatre, he would say 'weāll give it our best but itās not a busk if weāre not on the street!ā ā¦because thatās who he was - a performer at eye level in any situation. The stage was a separation he wouldnāt recognize. Of all the grand and gigantic venues he and The Frames played, you sensed the street was his most favoured place to perform. And street people, his favourite audience.
Voice of the streets. A choir of angels in one man. The rest of us blessed to stand there beside our very own and very earthed Angel Gabriel⦠All of us welcome in his choir, whatever shape or form.
ā¦.and Iām telling myself this morning that if he never existed, then he can never cease to exist. For me, he will always be everywhere I see a coin spinning into an open guitar case.
May you rest in the peace you gave to so many.
Bono
