The opposite is true for selling shares. Diluting at these levels is exactly the reason why the stock is down so much! Selling an undervalued asset ($GME) to buy a much more expensive asset ($EBAY) doesn't work very well - even if you factor in cost savings/synergies!
Those that are against large share buybacks at $GME don't seem to understand the distinction between buying at depressed multiples vs buying at average or overvalued multiples. If $GME were overvalued, I wouldn't push for the buyback. However, we are extremely undervalued!

@ThurpenFleebaum@larryvc It doesn’t matter how much they make if they piss it all away and lose money in bitcoin, etc. It isn’t a problem with earnings it’s a capital allocation problem.
@Simonsdad3@larryvc I think they did it to remove some debt for the eBay acquisition and they severely miscalculated how the market would react. I’m thinking the amendment today is evidence they may formally abandon the acquisition but that’s just a guess.
Earnings drive stock prices not revenue. Specifically earnings per share. Buying back stock at these prices would increase both revenue per share and earnings per share.
@Simonsdad3@larryvc Agree with all your points (you can see my frustration in my timeline, lol)! I hope he's sincere in wanting feedback. I think the amendment today was the result of listening to s/h but I could be wrong.
I'd encourage people to give actual constructive feedback. Most of the comments to his post don't offer anything actionable that $GME can do to fix the situation.
@Simonsdad3@larryvc I think it's great he's listening, tbh! Investors speak in 13D's all the time (Icah, Elliott, etc). Hearing from smaller investors is also valuable BUT comments like this don't give any constructive feedback.
@larryvc Great earnings! Good amendment! Only thing left is to formally abandon the $EBAY acquisition (selling our position would be best!) and buyback our own stock!
If you think "$GME won't be able to do a buyback because the stock will go up too much and they won't get a good price" then, congratulations! You just admitted that the current issue is $GME capital allocation.
