Every "crash" or flare up of symptoms is accompanied by the fear that it might be the start of a permanent deterioration. The uncertainty is terrifying. Some of this could be ameliorated by proper medical support. #MECFS#LongCovid#MedTwitter
I didn't learn about a disease like this in med school.
#LongCovid has no reliable diagnostic markers, prognostic indicators, or treatments.
Yet #MECFS has been known for decades and given little research funding, perhaps bc many presenting patients have historically been women
DYK, the Omicron BA.5 subvariant is the most contagious so far and leading to rising cases in CA? People who’ve had COVID-19, even recent illness from other Omicron subvariants, can still get sick with BA.5.
If people knew with every infection there was up to a 1 in 5 chance of coming down with a condition that is “100x more fatiguing than cancer”, they would reevaluate how they navigate the pandemic.
But they don’t know ~ because there is no public health warning for #LongCovid
Fit tested N95s + HEPA filters work
"We found that the combination of a N95 mask that passed a quantitative fit-test and portable HEPA filter provided near complete protection against high viral aerosol loads at close range for prolonged periods of time"

Hey Dr. Fauci & @NIH ~30% of all COVID survivors, >23M Americans & counting who now have debilitating #LongCOVID are not "irrelevant" and post-viral syndromes were "disruptive of society" for millions of Americans with post-viral syndromes before COVID. Poor messaging. Do better.
I don’t want to hear another god damn thing from @JoeBiden or Democrats about the grave death march to authoritarianism. Extraditing Julian Assange for the crime of historic journalism is radical authoritarianism.
89% of student borrowers say they aren't financially ready to resume student loan payments & 27% will be spending at least a third of their income on payments when they resume. Student debt is dragging down our communities and economy. @POTUS should #CancelStudentDebt.
My Dr. on #MECFS#myalgicencEphalomyelitis It's a terrible disability that affects millions, yet receives the smallest amt of NIH funding of severe diseases. Hopefully all the attention paid to #LongCOVID will address this injustice, and help all of us! https://t.co/eHP6NrjXUr
@EricTopol Why did @Medscape remove #MECFS from the subscription topic alerts? I found the previous emailed content informative and would like to see it return to the available options. From a severely disabled ME/CFS patient who can't practice vet med as a result. Thanks!

@SoDakMtneer @paleymir Probably. I don’t follow info on migraines/headaches since mine fall under the umbrella of dysautonomia/POTS and CFS/ME, which are written extensively about as invisible illness predominantly affecting young women.
Why would wealthy people support a plan to gut the American middle class? Is it possible that the answer is simple - "It's all about the money"? Or is there more?

I can confirm this.
I spoke with a GOP member moments ago, asking if it is true that there are House Republicans who favor impeachment but fear for their lives/physical safety if they follow through with that vote.
Answer: “Yes.”
I've received several DMs from friends asking what do to about parents/family members who believe misinformation regarding the election, vaccines and COVID. Here's a research-based thread to help explain the roots of these beliefs and how to (and how *not* to) address them. 1/
