The moment you find yourself begging for respect, pleading for care, negotiating for affection, or crying for reciprocation, something has already gone terribly wrong. You are no longer in a partnership. You are in a negotiation with someone who has already shown you they are not willing to give freely.
I used to be that person.
I remember a night on a call with her, crying, begging for reciprocation. Begging for her to care for me the way I poured into her. Begging for her to love me the way I loved her. I was not asking for too much. I was asking for the bare minimum. And I was shattered that I even had to ask.
That night, I lost it completely. I became a shadow of myself.
I did not recognise the person I had become. I was someone who had abandoned his own dignity in the name of love. I was someone who thought that if I just tried harder, explained better, cried louder, she would finally see me. But she did not. She could not. Because you cannot teach someone to value you. You cannot convince someone to care. You cannot beg someone into loving you.
The moment you have to ask for the basics, the relationship is already over
“The person who leaves because “relationships shouldn’t be this hard” may eventually discover that they weren’t escaping a difficult relationship.
They were escaping the difficulty of becoming a better partner.”
someone once told me “everyone comes into a relationship with baggage. you will either trip over each other’s bags or you will unpack them together," and that hit me because the right person will sit down and help you unpack, no matter how long it takes.
I think the purest form of love is just wanting someone to experience life with you. "taste this. look at that. listen to this song." over and over. until you can't imagine experiencing life without them.
This employee was fully remote for 6 years before being forced back into the office 3 days a week.
Now every Thursday, he commutes in just to sit completely alone in a dark office building for 8 hours.
For a RELATIONSHIP to really work, you gotta understand this: You and your partner are TWO different people, with two different pasts, trying to build ONE future. You didn't grow up the same, you won't always think the same, and that's okay. What matters is HOW you handle it. Communicate without turning everything into an argument. Listen even when you're frustrated. Stop keeping score and start choosing growth. Because every disagreement shouldn't create distance. It should build understanding
that's why i stop using equality. this took me years to stop being in denial and admit men and women are not equal. it's equity. equity for all, men, women, children, and disabled people. not equality.
Whatever you do, pray for the ability to see your own sins, your own hypocrisy, and your own shortcomings. Never get so carried away pointing fingers that you forget you, too, fall short.
