Tweeted this out once already but it’s worth noting that hockey gets a “black eye” by media and pundits alike any chance they get. But again there are a 100 good stories to any 1 bad. Sure be nice to see this get more attention, this is some great stuff. 😊🥅🏒👏
The best player on a team isn’t always the player who scores the most. Sometimes it’s the player who has a high IQ or a diverse/versatile skill set or a player who is unselfish & coachable or who knows their role inside & out. Basing “good” only on points scored is a big mistake!
PLAYERS: You're never a neutral teammate. You are either making things better or making things worse on your team. You are either helping your teammates or not. You are either encouraging or not. You are either providing a good example or not. Great teams have great teammates.
Pro - minor hockey players, remember:
HKY is the most difficult team sport in the world to play..
Mistakes are inevitable, you need to let go of mistakes taking up your mental energy.
Focus on what you can control, instead of what you can’t
Y is hky the most difficult?

"Obsessing about winning is a losers game. The most we can hope for is to create the best possible conditions for success, then let go of the outcome.". - Phil Jackson
"Your mistakes don't lose you games. Your response to mistakes, lose you games. We don't want reactions; we want responses."
In sports and in life, your response-ability is your responsibility. Don't react (that's emotion) to mistakes. Respond (take action) to mistakes.
