New talk: Hegel Vs Logic. A journey from Aristotelian syllogistic to post-Fregean predicate logic, and the problematic logical pluralism of today. Can Hegel's vision of a one true science of logic explain these problems and point towards a resolution? https://t.co/wNgDS7AhqX
@abou_rijal Novack's wording itself is definitely better than my summarization in that regard. It touches more on the absurd versus ordered framework. Maybe a better phrasing could be Marxist optimism around reconciling human estrangement from nature. 🤔
There are many paths into pessimism — a structuralism that erases individual intent, an irrationality that views all of history as mere random chance, etc — but they all share that they have found "a philosophical rationale of the absurdity of all political activity"
Can existentialism and Marxism ever be reconciled? George Novack’s 1966 anthology argues not, framing existentialism as a reactionary “third way” that seeks to supplant dialectical materialism with its own metaphysics. First-time contributor @dyalectix reviews. Link below ⤵️

"154 years ago, on March 18, 1871, the workers of Paris made history by establishing the world’s first revolutionary socialist government—the Paris Commune. Defying the exploitative belief that workers couldn’t govern, these courageous revolutionaries dismantled the capitalist state machinery and, during their 72-day rule, offered a glimpse of a socialist future free from discrimination, inequality, and exploitation. Their legacy inspired the 1917 Russian Revolution and continues to fuel the struggle for a just world.
A major reason for the defeat of Paris Commune as Marx and Engels pointed out, was that the Commune had failed to carry out the dictatorship of the workers over the exploiters ruthlessly.

Today marks 3 years since the start of the war in Ukraine.
The corporate media says Putin wants to take over the world, and Trump says Zelenskyy somehow managed to trick the US into supporting him — but the reality is that NATO’s long-term strategy of expansion towards Russia’s borders made war inevitable.
The only REAL path towards peace is the abolition of NATO!
