I was on my way to The New Yorker festival to speak on Russia with David Remnick when I received the news of Anna Politkovskaya's assassination. A brave soul who saw things clearly and was not afraid to also speak clearly. As I said then, we don’t know who did it, and may never know, but we know who is responsible and that his address is the Kremlin. I encourage you to honor her and her legacy by reading her works, not just her obituaries.
People in temporarily occupied Oleshky are starving. There is almost nothing left to eat. Reports indicate that civilians are being forced to survive on grass and weeds, while medicines, clean water, electricity, and medical care are increasingly out of reach. Children are trapped in these conditions too.
This suffering has a clear cause and a clear perpetrator. Russia has brought this catastrophe to Oleshky through its illegal occupation and bears full responsibility for this humanitarian disaster, all of its consequences, and the innocent civilian lives lost as a result.
The international community must mobilize every available instrument to reach people in Oleshky, deliver humanitarian assistance, and ensure the safe evacuation of those who want to leave. The @UN, the @ICRC, and other international actors must use their mandates and channels to secure immediate and unhindered humanitarian access.
I appreciate @CommissionerHR Michael O’Flaherty for drawing international attention to the situation in Oleshky. Now this attention must be followed by action. People there cannot survive on statements of concern. Humanitarian access and safe evacuation must become a reality, because every day matters.
@Kasparov63 I hope soon the same will be told about the first ever orange president.
Otherwise, the entire world is on the way to a BIG war.
However, most of the people prefer to keep the mouth shut. Until it’s too late and we found ourselves as a part of military unit. Or in a gas chambers.
@elonmusk Putler started the war. Or you already forgot? O_o
He is the one who can stop it. But he won’t…
By the way, in 90s Ukraine and Belarus gave up their nukes in exchange for “protections” from western countries. Now we already see how much Trump’s words worth… blah-blah…

@elonmusk@ZelenskyyUa so, now Alaska goes back to Russia because of someone mistake and US returns into British King George’s hands?..
Same logic, no?..
@elonmusk@ZelenskyyUa If we don’t stop ruscism now, it will spread and affect even more countries and mor people.
…and about “voting”. What kind of voting is it if nobody counts anything and just say at the end about 79 to 99% of “support”.
