First time at County Sligo GC today…
1. Word that comes to mind is “memorable”. Easy to remember every hole, loads of variety, land movement and challenge.
2. Site of the West of Ireland (basically an Irish amateur major). Winners include Rory, Shane and Padraig.
3. Nearly entirely surrounded by water and hills. Incredible views from just about every hole.
4. Feels like a mix of Conwy, Western Gailes and Cruden Bay at times. And that is high praise.
5. Doubt it’s a popular choice but I loved the 13th hole. Well framed, elevated tee shot followed by (another) cool green and green site that creates an awkward angle.
6. Forget the golf, it’s probably one of the best walks you could take in this part of Ireland.
($375 a round before you ask)

Distance proved a huge advantage for @Minwoo27Lee this week - but sometimes visualising how that advantage play out, and the tradeoff between extra yards and wider dispersion can be tricky. This example from Augusta's 1st hole highlights why distance truly matters.

@RobbieCannon I don't think there is a downside to golf really, nor does any other country in the world by the looks of it but, but NPHET do 🤷♂️ Feels like somethings gone very wrong in the decision making process here for some reason
@RobbieCannon I know yea 😭 I thought the big thing that was missing from that whole letter was any talk of the benefits of these things, seems like they just see all the downside of golf and no upside
@DataGolf At co-sanctioned events the caddy system is still in place for now, which is optional for non members so that's why theres quite a lot missing at these events
@BogeyMenPod That was actually true early in his career. He was 2 shots clear of 2nd for the period of 2010-2015, but he's been passed out in recent years.
