When universities fund student activities, they must do so without viewpoint discrimination. In 1995, a conservative Supreme Court majority made this clear, ruling that the University of Virginia could not deny funding to an evangelical student newspaper because of its views.

As the university’s chancellor put it: “A hallmark of a college education is exposure to opinions and ideas that may be far from your own.”
If speech is protected by the First Amendment, it’s allowed on a public campus. Full stop.
