Dave: “Hello, caller, you are on the air.”
Caller: “I don’t think billionaires create value.”
Dave: “Okay. What do you mean by that?”
Caller: “Nobody can earn a billion dollars ethically.”
Dave: “Alright. What do you do for a living?”
Caller: “Well, before this, I was a bartender.”
Dave: “Nothing wrong with bartending. Honest work.”
Caller: “Right.”
Dave: “And now?”
Caller: “I work in government.”
Dave: “Okay. So let me get this straight. You're saying Elon Musk, who helped build PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink, has made innovations like online payments, electric cars, rockets, and satellite internet possible, didn't earn his way to being a billionaire?"
Caller: “None of that justifies being a billionaire.”
Dave: “Well, sure sounds like value got created somewhere along the line.”
Caller: “I disagree.”
Dave: “What exactly did you build?”
Caller: “I advocate for economic justice.”
Dave: “No ma’am, I mean actual products.”
Caller: “…”
Dave: “You’re telling me the guy catching rockets mid-air created less value than a person who used to serve mojitos and now votes on spending his tax dollars?”
Caller: “That’s unfair.”
Dave: “What’s unfair is pretending markets are imaginary while cashing a government paycheck funded by the businesses you claim don’t create value.”
Caller: “I’m actually a congresswoman.”
Dave: “Oh Lord. Of course!"
@MetamateDaz Its only in socialist fever dreams that people get to sit on the butts and do nothing without consequence. The real world is not like this. You don't hunt or forage, you starve and die.
@OrevaZSN Incorrect. You reduce crime with proper law enforcement and consequence management. The data is abundantly clear from multiple contexts on this.
@OrevaZSN Your premise is flawed because you take wealth to be fixed. Wealth is not fixed. It is created. If it were fixed, you would be able to indicate the maximum amount of wealth possible. That is a contradiction.
The Expropriation Act, BEE compliance burdens, and growing tenure uncertainty are sending a message to investors and entrepreneurs that the IRR believes must be countered with a clear reform agenda.
IRR CEO Dr John Endres makes that case at a public talk hosted with the University of the Free State on 13 May. Attend in person or join online via Teams.

@HermanMashaba Which party joyously trumpted it's support for ANC mayor Dada Morero while disparaging the DA as racist and arrogant? You are a farce on 2 legs.
Resolving unemployment should be THE highest policy priority, which other policies should defer to. However, the perversion is the other way around where job creation takes a backseat to other policies and policy objectives in a way that shows that job creation is the least considered outcome in the formation and practice of other policies. Think labour law, tax policies, EWC, BEE, NHI….
Scrap BEE and adopt a system that empowers poor people of all races.
BEE has been a disaster and caused so much suffering in the form high unemployment and corruption.
ANC Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has told the ANC Mayor of Johannesburg to halt a deal committing the city to over R10 billion in salary increases it cannot afford.
"You have committed the City into a financial obligation that is not possible to fulfil… You are hereby directed to stop proceeding with the implementation of this illegally signed agreement that has the potential to destroy the sustainability of the City of Johannesburg beyond this term of office."
National Treasury will withhold R8 billion if the city does not act.
Helen Zille: "In all my years in politics, I have never seen a letter quite this forthright or this blunt."
The financial chaos in Johannesburg shows what could have happened in South Africa had a GNU without the DA been formed.

🚨 The @MYANC says challenging the NHI in The Constitutional Court is "obstructing constitutional processes." The @SACP1921 calls it an "oxymoron."
Here's what they're not telling you. 🧵👇
